BUILDING NO. PROJECT NAME SECTION 013523.

11 LATERAL FORCE PROVISIONS

SC#

PART 1 - GENERAL

SCHEDULE 0 - SUMMARY PRODUCT DATA SHEET 0 - Related Documents: 0.1 Drawings and general provisions of the Subcontract apply to this Section. 0.2 Review these documents for coordination with additional requirements and information that apply to work under this Section. PRODUCT DATA SHEET 1 - Section Includes: 1.1 Criteria for the design and installation of lateral force anchorage for non-structural components of the Project including walls, cladding, and mechanical and electrical equipment. 1.2 It is the Universitys intention that all non-structural components as identified in Tables 13.5-1 and 13.6-1 of ASCE 7-05 and the programmatic equipment installed under this Subcontract shall be restrained to resist lateral forces in accordance with the requirements of this section. This section applies to conventional and laboratory facilities at, or leased by, the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, California.

SCHEDULE 1 - REFERENCES PRODUCT DATA SHEET 0 - General: 0.1 The following documents form part of the Specifications to the extent stated. Where differences exist between codes and standards, the one affording the greatest protection shall apply. 0.2 Unless otherwise noted, the referenced standard edition is the current one at the time of commencement of the Work. 0.3 Refer to Division 01 Section "General Requirements" for the list of applicable regulatory requirements. 0.4 The University will furnish the [Subcontractor][Vendor] with a copy of references which are not commercially available upon request. PRODUCT DATA SHEET 1 - Ground Motion Time Histories for the UC Berkeley Campus (LBL-62614) and Updated Probablisitic Seismic Hazard Evaluation and Development of Seismic Design Ground Motions for the University of California, Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL-1975E) when a dynamic analysis is required by 1. 5. PRODUCT DATA SHEET 2 - LBL Health and Safety Manual, Publication 3000, Chapter 23, Seismic Safety.

SCHEDULE 2 - DESIGN BUILD REQUIREMENTS PRODUCT DATA SHEET 0 - Design-build responsibility: The [Subcontractor][Vendor] is responsible for the engineering and design of the anchorage of all non-structural elements which are not specifically detailed on the subcontract documents and for equipment where several manufacturers and/or models have been specified with substitutions allowed. The [Subcontractor][Vendor] is responsible for the redesign of the anchorage of equipment where substitution of equipment requires redesign. PRODUCT DATA SHEET 1 - Structural calculations: The [Subcontractor][Vendor] shall retain an engineer to produce design calculations that thoroughly demonstrate the adequacy of the anchorage and of the supporting structure to resist all imposed loads. The calculations shall be sealed by a Structural Engineer registered to practice in California. PRODUCT DATA SHEET 2 - Drawings: All seismic bracing, shall be shown graphically and dimensionally located on the [Subcontractor][Vendor]s submittals for all non-structural elements which are not detailed and located on the Subcontract drawings.

PRODUCT DATA SHEET 0 - Submit in accordance with Division 01 Section "General Requirements". 0.1 Placement drawings showing the location of each anchor or brace, including proprietary items. 0.2 Installation and assembly drawings for all braces and anchors. 0.3 Complete International Code Council Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) reports for proprietary items. 0.4 Structural calculations sealed by a Structural Engineer registered in California for seismic anchorage designs produced as part of the Subcontract.

SCHEDULE 4 - CRITERIA FOR DESIGN PRODUCT DATA SHEET 0 - Design and construct non-structural elements of buildings to withstand lateral forces (seismic) in accordance with the latest edition of the California Building Code (CBC) as adopted by the Building Standards Commission (BSC) and the following modifications/clarifications to the CBC. PRODUCT DATA SHEET 1 - The seismic base shear for building and non building structures anywhere on the LBNL Berkeley campus may be calculated for latitude 37 52 33 and longitude 122 14 51. The height of a structure (h) is to be measured from the top of the roof to the bottom of the lowest level which is exposed to the weather on at least one side. Seismic analyses will utilize the static lateral force procedures of the ASCE 7 unless a dynamic analysis is required. When a dynamic analysis is required, the design basis earthquake is as specified in Ground Motion Time Histories for the UC Berkeley Campus (LBL-62614) scaled to the target intensities in Updated Probablisitic Seismic Hazard Evaluation and Development of Seismic Design Ground Motions for the University of California, Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL-1975E). The use of roof and/or floor spectra may also be required for the design of the anchorage for non-structural elements. 1.1 The Seismic Importance Factor (Ip) shall be as required by the CBC. Fume hoods, laminar flow hoods, biosafety cabinets, and clean rooms containing chemical or biological hazards, including the ductwork, filters and blowers associated with these elements, shall be designed with Ip=1.5. 1.2 Section 1613.6.8 of the 2010 CBC shall not apply anywhere on the LBNL Berkeley campus. 1.3 The height of a structure (h) is to be measured from the top of the floor or roof under consideration to the bottom of the lowest level which is exposed to the weather on at least one side. 1.4 The drift and deformation of building structures anywhere on the LBNL Berkeley campus shall comply with Section 12.12 of ASCE 7 with the following exception: in Table 12.12-1 the allowable drift of Structures, other than masonry shear wall (the first row of the Table) for Category I or II shall not exceed 0.020hscc. The drift and deformation of non building structures shall comply with Section 15.4 of ASCE [Link] utilities bridging between two structures to accommodate the simultaneous seismic deflection of the structures away from each other in any orthogonal direction. PRODUCT DATA SHEET 2 - Design fire protection piping supports and bracing to NFPA 13 as adopted by the latest version of the CBC and the California Fire Code. PRODUCT DATA SHEET 3 - The seismic design criteria for program equipment, shielding, hazardous or toxic material handling systems including piping, ductwork, equipment, etc. shall be in accordance with LBNL Health and Safety Manual, Publication 3000, Chapter 23, Seismic Safety. PRODUCT DATA SHEET 4 - Exterior elements of buildings, and non-structural components, shall be designed to withstand the minimum horizontal and uplift wind pressures in accordance with Chapter 6 of ASCE 7 for exposure C. PRODUCT DATA SHEET 5 - The allowable deflection of non structural elements or components subjected to the specified wind pressures shall not exceed L/240, where L is the appropriate length or height of the element under consideration.
