Tommy, The Whos defining, breakthrough concept album a full-blown rock opera about a deaf, dumb and blind boy that launched the band to international superstardom is to be released in Deluxe and Super Deluxe editions this Autumn. Originally released in May 1969, The Who were at a career crossroads, they were known mainly as a singles band but this project launched them as a serious albums band and has now sold over 20 million copies as well as regularly turning up in lists of the most influential albums of all time. Coming after The Who Sell Out in 1967 it marked a complete change in style with Pete Townshend's lengthy conceptual narrative brought exciting new opportunities to rock music. Tommy was and remains to be an ambitious, complex and controversial work, which was initially banned by the BBC. This new Deluxe and Super Deluxe version of the album comes with a wealth of previously unheard material in the form of 20 demos from Pete Townshends archive and also a full live performance of Tommy from 1969 taken from tapes that infamously Townshend asked the bands sound engineer to burn!

The world of jazz in the post-war era was blessed with some very special female vocalists. One name whom many jazz fans will cite among their favorites is that of Anita O'Day, an artist who perhaps more than any of her contemporaries, stayed true to her jazz roots. This 51-track 2-CD set which includes most of the sides she recorded with Grene Krupa, and a fair proportion of those she did with Stan Kenton, and includes a few of the 'live' broadcast recordings she made with them. The Clancy Brothers, more than any other artists, brought traditional Irish folk music to a wide popular audience during the late '50s and early '60s, and re-established themselves as a proud cultural movement in their native country as well as becoming major stars in the US.

Key Points: John Abercrombies revised quartet provides Marc Copland with his first appearance on ECM. Yet guitarist and pianist are old allies, with an association stretching back forty years. In the early 1970s both were members of Chico Hamiltons quartet, and at the dawn of fusion both played with the pioneering jazzrock band Dreams. Since the late 1990s theyve revived their partnership in diverse contexts and have toured in formations ranging from piano-guitar duo to trio with Kenny Wheeler to the cooperative group Contact with Dave Liebman and Billy Hart. For much of the last decade Abercrombie and Copland have also each had bassist Drew Gress as a regular member of their respective bands so 39 Steps draws on a network of trusted relationships. Jazz ballads and lyricism predominate on this disc with six tunes from Abercrombies pen, two Copland tunes, one collective improvisation, and a creative deconstruction of the old standard Melancholy Baby. The album was produced by Manfred Eicher at New Yorks Avatar Studio in April 2013.

Key Points: Acclaim for the first, eponymous album from saxophonist-composer Tim Bernes acoustic quartet Snakeoil came from far and wide: All About Jazz described the music as unpredictable and fresh, while The Guardian called it an object lesson in balancing composition, improvisation and the tonal resources of an acoustic band. MADONNA MDNA TOUR BLU-RAY VERSION Interscope Records would like to make consumers of Madonna's MDNA World Tour Blu-ray disc aware that the concert will be seen at its most optimal quality by properly adjusting the settings on your television. This program uses smoke and grain effects as part of the creative treatment. Televisions set to "Dynamic" mode or "Enhanced" mode will artificially brighten these shots, causing a diminished consumer viewing experience. The issue can be rectified (on sets with these options) by setting the TV to "Normal" or "Movie" mode, rather than "Dynamic Brightness" or "Enhanced" mode. This consumer experience issue has also been found in theatrical films using similar creative effects. When the consumer sets their TV as above, the issue should resolve in most cases. In addition, the Blu-ray disc has been inspected and found to be a fully compliant BD-J disc. BD-J, or Blu-ray Disc Java, is a technical specification that is used on all studio releases, however some older players may not be fully BD-J compliant and/or require an upgrade to the player's firmware, which is the software that makes devices function as they should. Older players or those without this firmware upgrade may experience glitches when navigating the Blu-ray menu. Those who experience glitches and wish to update their firmware should follow the manufacturer's instructions. We apologise for this inconvenience.
