It’s been almost a month since school started and we are all struggling with assessment
deadlines and coldly autumn days, but even though temperatures aren’t so friendly at least we
can say that the fashion forecasts looks quite good.

I know that one of the biggest events of the year, Halloween, just passed, but still I
definitely think that we can continue wearing the best costumes every day, right?

Wear moody blue hues but do not forget about the season’s most dazzling thing, the sequins.
Take some over knee sexy boots and you’ll definitely be “the bomb”. And the most important
thing is “be classy and fab”, as Coco Chanel was saying. But, if you are a man, well then
things are different. You’ll look absolutely great wearing plaid shirt and a sob

However, I have to say that I felt in love with louche co co-respondent shoes. They are
absolutely awesome!

A Christmas Carol (PG)
Robert Zemeckis uses the motion capture technique he used in The
Polar Express and Beowulf to re-create Charles Dickens’ popular
novel. Jim Carrey is Ebenezer Scrooge, Ghost of Christmas Past,
Present and Future. If this technology seems creepy to you, then the
film uses it to its full potential. The hazy, cold streets of London are
haunting and the dark, gothic feel makes me think that this movie is
more for Halloween than it is for Christmas.

It does have a huge opportunity to truly serve Charles Dickens’ tale,

but there are times where it has to resort to dramatic, zany action
sequences. There is no need for filler, because it is already there in
the novel. All that partially ruins what should be the most ambitious
and interesting attempt at adapting Charles Dickens’ A Christmas
Carol. Children should take caution as the movie is quite scary.

Jennifer’s Body
If Bright Star is hell bent on making the audience feel like a bunch of philistines, then you
are with me in thinking “I’d rather watch vampirism, ancient curses, and grungy high school
horror”. What did put me off earlier is the fact it stars actress/stripper/model/cleavage/you’ve
been tangoed Megan Fox. I can say with much confidence that this is her best film to date (and
that is saying a lot).

The film is on familiar territory, where the high school clique meets Ginger Snaps. Megan Fox
is a fiery, sexual, high school teenager who ‘offers’ herself for fellow male classmates. Here
is the catch: she is evil. Not “high school evil”, but “actually evil”. Her diffident ‘best friend’
(Amanda Seyfried, with glasses) tries to explain to everyone how Jennifer (Megan Fox) is not
what she seems.

Ironic how the snot-nosed critics sneer at this and bland Bright Star is showered with confetti.
Diablo Cody (Juno) obviously knows her horror and this film is less for the ‘fanboy’ audience
than it is for the more mainstream audience. There are many references to Slumber Party
Massacre, Carrie and to a certain extent The House on Sorority Row, but that does not matter
because it is a fun-filled romp that will last for just those minutes on screen.

Students can effectively influence tuition policies by organizing and attending meetings with MPs, urging them to pledge against fee increases, and using their voting power strategically. By focusing on MPs’ stances and holding them accountable through electoral pressure, students aim to prevent fee hikes, impacting university fee policies in future elections .

Bus companies in Surrey and surrounding areas face financial pressures from the economic downturn, leading to the withdrawal or reduction of routes and services. This reduction in services can leave students waiting for prolonged periods or force them to find alternative commuting methods, such as walking or cycling, despite the poor quality of public transportation service .

The university drinking culture, notably within sports clubs, can lead to problematic behaviors such as degrading acts, as seen in past incidents where students faced expulsion. The university takes a strong stance against binge drinking, promoting responsibility among club organizers for student actions. This stance is aimed at protecting student welfare by discouraging excessive alcohol consumption in university-related activities .

Movember combines cultural celebration of the moustache with promoting men's health awareness, specifically for prostate cancer and depression. By engaging in conversations and public displays, it challenges taboos about discussing men's health, encouraging early detection and promoting peer support to address symptoms effectively .

University sports clubs' culture, highlighted by past alcohol-related incidents, imposes responsibilities on students and organizers to behave responsibly. This culture influences university policies by necessitating strict oversight and accountability for misconduct, impacting the university’s approach to student welfare and club management while supporting non-alcoholic events and behavior codes .

Air's album "Love 2" is critiqued for not attracting attention like previous releases despite maintaining an ambient style. While it returns slightly to the "Moon Safari" sound with soaring synths and bass grooves, some tracks like "Tropical Disease" are criticized for sounding dated, and overall the album does not achieve the same impact as earlier works .

Public perception of students as 'unemployed binge-drinking louts' can lead to prejudice from bus drivers, potentially contributing to poor service for students at campus bus stops. Negative stereotypes may cause bus drivers and other public service individuals to overlook or undervalue student needs, affecting their ability to commute efficiently .

The University of Surrey recognizes the importance of the stag statue as a symbol of connection to Stag Hill and intends to address vandalism by collaborating with local police and utilizing CCTV to prevent future incidents. They quickly replaced the missing letters to restore the statue, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining university landmarks .

The NUS proposes to combat tuition fee increases by engaging MPs, organizing pledges against fee hikes, and leveraging students' voting power to pressure policymakers. They emphasize preventing economic barriers that pricing poorer students out of prestigious universities could create, advocating for fairer fee structures .

Music plays a role in potentially enhancing students' studying habits by creating a relaxing or stimulating environment, though preferences vary with some opting for silence. Its effect on productivity is debated, with studies examining its impact on focus and mood; however, it remains a popular tool for creating a conducive studying atmosphere .
