Straw Poll by 60 Percent of Vote
Jacksonville, Fla. Republican Candidate Paul Renner today announced that he won the straw
poll at the Jacksonville Hob Nob last evening by 60 percent of the vote for his campaign for
Florida House District 15. The joint event by the JAX Chamber and WOKV News 104.5 is the
premiere non-partisan political event of 2014.
Thank you for coming out and supporting our campaign for Florida House District 15 last
night! said Renner. I am honored and humbled to receive the support of our community. The
results of the straw poll further demonstrate how our message of commonsense conservative
leadership is resonating with Republican voters as we head toward the primary on August 26.
My commitment to our community is clear we must promote economic growth and good
paying jobs, while combatting government overreach and excessive regulation, said Renner.
In Tallahassee, I intend to be a strong and consistent conservative leader. Like the oath I took
in the military, in everything I do, I will protect and defend our Constitution that limits
government and protects our liberty. That includes pushing back against the federal government
in favor of more state and local solutions and placing more control in the hands of individuals
and families where it belongs.

Since launching his campaign to represent Florida House District 15, which includes the western
part of Jacksonville, Renner has received the endorsements of U.S. Congressman Ron DeSantis
(R-FL), State Senator John Thrasher (R-St. Augustine), Representative Daniel Davis (R-
Jacksonville), former Senator Steve Wise (R), Clerk of the Court and former Jacksonville City
Council President Ronnie Fussell, former Jacksonville City Council President Alberta Hipps,
Jacksonville Councilman Ray Holt, Jacksonville Sheriff John Rutherford, the Associated
Industries of Florida, Florida Medical Association, JAXBIZ, and the Northeast Florida Builders
Association, to name a few.

Renner was raised in Jacksonville and is a graduate of Davidson College and the University of
Florida, Levin College of Law. He served 23-years in the U.S. Navy on both active duty and in
the reserves, including deployments in support of combat operations during Operation Desert
Storm in 1991 and in Afghanistan in 2011. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious
Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal and Navy Achievement Medal, among others. He
also served as an assistant state attorney, earning a strong reputation for his successful efforts to
prosecute serious felony offenses.

Renner is an attorney and partner at Milam Howard Nicandri Dees and Gillam, P.A., where he
represents many local businesses. He is active in the community and has served as President of
the Jacksonville Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society and as General Counsel to the Duval
County Republican Party. He also participates in a number of civic and professional
organizations, including his Rotary and the Westside Business Leaders Association. Paul
attends Southpoint Community Church and he and his wife reside on the Westside.
