Adam Smith: Father of Economics

Adam Smith was an influential Scottish philosopher and economist born in 1723. He is considered the father of modern economics, and authored two major works: The Theory of Moral Sentiments, and An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations. He studied moral philosophy at the University of Glasgow and Oxford University, and taught moral philosophy at Glasgow. Smith spent his later life writing his magnum opus, The Wealth of Nations, which was published in 1776 and established him as the father of modern economics. He died in 1790.
