Revelation Lesson 2
SECOND DAY:
Revelation 1:4-8
Greetings and Doxology
4 John,
To the seven churches in the province of Asia:
Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was,
and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his
throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful
witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the
kings of the earth.
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by
his blood, 6 and has made us to be a kingdom and priests
to serve his God and Fatherto him be glory and power
for ever and ever! Amen.
7 Look, he is coming with the clouds,
and every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him;
and all peoples on earth will mourn because of him.
So shall it be! Amen.
8 I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God,
who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.
Revelation 22:7
7 Look, I am coming soon! Blessed is the one who keeps
the words of the prophecy written in this scroll.
Revelation 2:9-10
9 I know your afflictions and your povertyyet you are
rich! I know about the slander of those who say they are
Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. 10 Do
not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the
devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you
will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to
the point of death, and I will give you life as your victors
crown.
Revelation 13:10b
This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the
part of Gods people.
Revelation 14:12
12 This calls for patient endurance on the part of the
people of God who keep his commands and remain
faithful to Jesus.
Revelation 12:10-17
10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:
Now have come the salvation and the power
and the kingdom of our God,
and the authority of his Messiah.
For the accuser of our brothers and sisters,
who accuses them before our God day and night,
has been hurled down.
11 They triumphed over him
by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony;
they did not love their lives so much
as to shrink from death.
12 Therefore rejoice, you heavens
and you who dwell in them!
But woe to the earth and the sea,
because the devil has gone down to you!
He is filled with fury,
because he knows that his time is short.
13 When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the
earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the
male child. 14 The woman was given the two wings of a
great eagle, so that she might fly to the place prepared
for her in the wilderness, where she would be taken care
of for a time, times and half a time, out of the serpents
reach. 15 Then from his mouth the serpent spewed water
like a river, to overtake the woman and sweep her away
with the torrent. 16 But the earth helped the woman by
opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the
dragon had spewed out of his mouth. 17 Then the dragon
was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war
against the rest of her offspringthose who keep Gods
commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus.
Revelation 13:5-7
5 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and
blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two
months. 6 It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to
slander his name and his dwelling place and those who
live in heaven. 7 It was given power to wage war against
Gods holy people and to conquer them. And it was given
authority over every tribe, people, language and nation.
Revelation 19:6-9
6 Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like
the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder,
shouting:
Hallelujah!
For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
7 Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.
8 Fine linen, bright and clean,
was given her to wear.
Revelation Lesson 2
(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of Gods holy
people.)
9 Then the angel said to me, Write this: Blessed are
those who are invited to the wedding supper of the
Lamb! And he added, These are the true words of God.
Revelation 19:11-16
The Heavenly Warrior Defeats the Beast
11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a
white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With
justice he judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are like
blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a
name written on him that no one knows but he himself.
13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name
is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were
following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine
linen, white and clean. 15 Coming out of his mouth is a
sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. He
will rule them with an iron scepter. He treads the
winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On
his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:
king of kings and lord of lords.
Revelation 21:1-4
A New Heaven and a New Earth
21 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the
first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and
THIRD DAY:
Matthew 4:21-22
21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James
son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a
boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets.
Jesus called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat
and their father and followed him.
Matthew 17:1-3
The Transfiguration
17 After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and
John the brother of James, and led them up a high
mountain by themselves. 2 There he was transfigured
before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes
became as white as the light. 3 Just then there appeared
before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.
John 19:25-27
25 Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mothers
sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the
new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,
prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, Look!
Gods dwelling place is now among the people, and he
will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God
himself will be with them and be their God. 4 He will wipe
every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death
or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things
has passed away.
Revelation 22:1-5
Eden Restored
22 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of
life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God
and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of
the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life,
bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month.
And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the
nations. 3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of
God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants
will serve him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will
be on their foreheads. 5 There will be no more night. They
will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for
the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for
ever and ever.
26 When
Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple
whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, Woman,
here is your son, 27 and to the disciple, Here is your
mother. From that time on, this disciple took her into his
home.
John 20:1-10
The Empty Tomb
20 Early on the first day of the week, while it was still
dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the
stone had been removed from the entrance. 2 So she
came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the
one Jesus loved, and said, They have taken the Lord out
of the tomb, and we dont know where they have put
him!
3 So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb.
4 Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter
and reached the tomb first. 5 He bent over and looked in
at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. 6 Then
Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight
into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, 7 as
Revelation Lesson 2
well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus
head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from
the linen. 8 Finally the other disciple, who had reached the
tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. 9 (They
still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to
rise from the dead.) 10 Then the disciples went back to
where they were staying.
John 21:20-25
20 Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus
loved was following them. (This was the one who had
leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said,
Lord, who is going to betray you?) 21 When Peter saw
him, he asked, Lord, what about him?
22 Jesus answered, If I want him to remain alive until I
return, what is that to you? You must follow me.
23 Because of this, the rumor spread among the believers
that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that
he would not die; he only said, If I want him to remain
alive until I return, what is that to you?
24 This is the disciple who testifies to these things and
who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is
true.
25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of
them were written down, I suppose that even the whole
world would not have room for the books that would be
written.
Acts 4:13
13 When they saw the courage of Peter and John and
realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they
were astonished and they took note that these men had
been with Jesus.

The Incarnation of the Word of Life
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have
heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have
looked at and our hands have touchedthis we proclaim
concerning the Word of life. 2 The life appeared; we have
seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal
life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.
3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so
that you also may have fellowship with us. And our
fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus
Christ.
Revelation 1:1-2
Prologue
1 The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him
to show his servants what must soon take place. He
made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,
2 who testifies to everything he sawthat is, the word of
God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 1:9
Johns Vision of Christ
9 I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and
kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus,
was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God
and the testimony of Jesus.
Revelation 2:2-3
2 I know your deeds, your hard work and your
perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked
people, that you have tested those who claim to be
apostles but are not, and have found them false. 3 You
have persevered and have endured hardships for my
name, and have not grown weary.
Be faithful, even to
the point of death, and I will give you life as your victors
crown.
Revelation Lesson 2
FOURTH DAY:
Revelation 2:7
7 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to
the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the
right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of
God.
Revelation 4:8-11
8 Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was
covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day
and night they never stop saying:
Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,
who was, and is, and is to come.
9 Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and
thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for
ever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before
him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for
ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne
and say:
11 You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.
Revelation 5:9-12
9 And they sang a new song, saying:
You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
FIFTH DAY:
Revelation 1:18
18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am
alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and
Hades.
Acts 1:9-11
9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very
eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was
going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood
beside them. 11 Men of Galilee, they said, why do you
stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who
has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in
the same way you have seen him go into heaven.
and with your blood you purchased for God
persons from every tribe and language and people and
nation.
10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to
serve our God,
and they will reign on the earth.
11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels,
numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand
times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the
living creatures and the elders. 12 In a loud voice they
were saying:
Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!
Revelation 19:10
10 At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to
me, Dont do that! I am a fellow servant with you and
with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony
of Jesus. Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy
who bears testimony to Jesus.
Revelation 22:17
17 The Spirit and the bride say, Come! And let the one
who hears say, Come! Let the one who is thirsty come;
and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water
of life.
1 Corinthians 15:51-55
51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we
will all be changed 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an
eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the
dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the
imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the
perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and
the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written
will come true: Death has been swallowed up in victory.
55 Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?
Revelation Lesson 2
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with
a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with
the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise
first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be
caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the
Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

Epilogue: Invitation and Warning

will give to each person according to what they have
done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the
Last, the Beginning and the End.
