1. Background study

Factors that affect on Employee Performance

This is the research project which is done by Business Management Student of

Kandy British College of Applied Studies. The topic is awareness of Motivation which
the statement appears to be as Factors Effect on employee performance at Haira
Farms (pvt) Ltd. For the brief, Haira Farms (Pvt) Ltd is located at Madawala which is
known as chicken processing entity running with almost 150 employees. The
Chairman MR Fazil gets the pleasure of owning 2 awards. For this research
purpose, the Haira Farms has selected due to its fastest improvement business
environment. Therefore when it comes to the Motivation Factors when its come to
the issue of the Human resource management, Haira is the appropriate entity for the
responds.
So this research on Factors Affecting Employee Performance is to assess how the
motivation impacts on employees for the optimum performance. Furthermore
motivation as the main influencer shows two paths for this project to analyse:
Monetary and Non-monetary.

2. Research problem

Factors that affect on Employee Performance

Employee satisfaction is the core issue for the every entity, and thats why the
department named Human Resource Management appears to the business
context. It is very hardly needed to satisfy the employees (internal customers) in an
organization in order to get the efficient outcomes from them. Therefore, the
motivational strategies were introduced to the Human resource management.
However, there are still some contraventual arguments existing within the experts
seeking that weather monetary or non monetary incentives do drive the employees
for the optimum results in an organization.

3. Research problem statement

Factors effect on employee performance at Haira Farms (pvt) Ltd (Monetary
incentives? Or non monetary incentives?)

4. Objectives
The objectives being posed on this topic are to,

Asses what type of incentives that in practiced at Haira Farm (pvt) Ltd.
Which types of incentives have more impact on employee performance?
Finalise the appropriate incentives manner (monetary or non monetary) to
boost the Employee performance.

4. Literature review

Factors that affect on Employee Performance

There are so many studies that explain about the different ways to motivate the
employees. But for the purpose of this research project, there are few and
appropriate studies have taken for the review. Basically there are two factors 1)
monetary incentives 2) non monetary incentives. In those days monetary incentives
were the only motivation tools to boost employees performance. Though now the
entrepreneurs have come to realise that there are something beyond the monetary
incentives which will boost the employees performance.
According to that, the study of (Myron Curry) says no one in this world can ignore
the money. Because its used among the bills, children, higher education, personal
desires etc. but still money should not be the only incentive which is used to drive
employees. Also there are something known non monetary incentives such as
listening to the employees ideas, respecting the employees, recognising the
employees, keep them informed, make sure to provide the sufficient resources in
order to make their job easier, friendly workplace environment, and communicate
them etc. These are the non monetary incentives which do drive them more than
monetary incentives. And also the (Philiotis, 2007) states providing luxury incentive
packages will mean as a boost employee performance, such as providing wine gifts
or latest technologies such as DVD players or digital camera as a non cash
incentive. But here the factor can be found is, wines or DVD players or digital
cameras do cost value in it. Therefore that cant be considered as non monetary
incentives. Furthermore, how these wine or latest technology products can be sure
to satisfy their needs? So here this statement is criticisable.

Factors that affect on Employee Performance

Furthermore, in order to support (Philiots, 2007) statement, the design of non

monetary incentives do have the link with the staff motivation level either in increase
or decrease. And he points out that non monetary incentive can be the drawback of
the motivation unless the organization finds the needs of the employees. Daniel
states that identifying the needs of employees is essential before the organization
starts to choose the incentive methods (Daniel, 2000).
Apart from that Ritter & Taylor(1997) suggest that these days workers dont have
real, measurable difficulty in landing comparable jobs in market which function both
efficiency and quickly. So it is important to provide the incentives as monetary in this
competitive business environment. As well Incentives (1989) suggests that 1/3 of
todays business organization does make the incentives as monetary related in order
to boost their employees. Which most of the companies have found that the
monetary incentives are the key booster in order to motivate the employees. And still
authors do suggest that there are some positive outcomes with the appropriate non
monetary incentives but monetary incentives means a lot for the employees in order
to boost their performance which will completely fulfil their physiological needs of
employees over than a non monetary incentive do. But still here they havent come
for the conclusion that do monetary incentives make more efficiency or non
monetary incentives make more efficiency in employees performance. So since the
argument is contravention, the research is up to this topic.

still all of the employees will be given the questionnaire for the fill up.

6. Data collection instruments

There will be both Quantitative & Qualitative data will be collected under two main
sources. There are,

Factors that affect on Employee Performance

Primary data: here the data will be collected as the direct materials (data).
Participation observation: this refers to the researcher who involves with the
workplace in order to gather the information related to the topic/ subject as an
investigator.

Observing the work place culture

Observing the management structure/organization structure

Be the one of them(employee) and try to observe on their situation

Interviews: interviews could be made within the employees during the working
time. The easy and best way is to have it as a familiar/friendly manner. So there
can be more information rather than having it on professional interview manner.

Interview with different types of employee group (high, middle)

Questionnaire:

questionnaire is the other form of surveys. This will be creating on

the purpose of getting the independence comments regarding the topic/subject.

Secondary data: in secondary data, the sources will be finding out by someone
whom has stated on some materials (Books, e-books etc.)

Internet resources (Online articles, E-books etc.)

topics)

7. Significant & Limitation

This project can bring up new strategies in related with employee motivation which
are not practice in the organization. Furthermore this will mostly help for the
organization to realise their strengths and weaknesses. And they can make stronger
their strength as well they can work on with their weaknesses.

Factors that affect on Employee Performance

The limitations are it is very hard to study humans mind accurately. Though they
have being given the questionnaire, how we can be assured that all the information
is accurate? So each and every step should be taken carefully. And this is kind of
difficult to analyse and compare the performance between the each department
employee. But still this research could be worked on for the optimum results.
