Event Assistant

Responsibilities: The Event Assistant shall assist the Director of Activities and Student
Activities Board, act as the liaison between activities and publicity with
the Public Relations Director, and coordinate recurring events and ticket
sales.

Duties: The Event Assistant shall have and exercise the following powers and
duties:

A. Perform duties in accordance with the Constitution and By-laws.


B. Plan at least two (2) events per month, one (1) of which must be recurring.
C. Oversee the purchase of tickets to two (2) outside events per month.
D. Communicate and manage itemized expenditures of the Ticket Subsidies budget with
the Director of Activities.
E. Assist the Director of Activities in Student Activities Board facilitation.
F. Assist the Director of Activities in negotiating speaker and entertainment fees with
agents.
G. Act as the main liaison between the Director of Public Relations, the Director of
Activities, and the Student Activities Board in regards to event advertisements
including, but not limited to:
1. Ensuring all event advertising requests are submitted at least three (3)
weeks prior to event
2. Ensuring all events receive flyer, A-Frame, and social media blasts.
3. Assisting the Public Relations Director with the above duties when
appropriate.
H. Help the Director of Activities and Student Activities Board to create a monthly
activities calendar and communicate this with the Public Relations Director.
I. Communicate with appropriate university staff including, but not limited to:
1. Public Safety
2. Facilities Operations
3. University Scheduler
4. VIT
J. Provide an oral and written report at each Senate meeting.
K. Attend as many ASWSUV sponsored events as possible.
L. Attend all mandatory ASWSUV meetings including, but not limited to:
1. Retreats
2. Executive Team meetings
3. All Student Government meetings
4. Attend Student Activities Board meetings
M. Perform any duties deemed necessary by the ASWSUV President and Director of
Activities.

Requirements: The Event Assistant must be a member of ASWSUV and be enrolled in at


least six (6) credits per semester during the regular academic year. He/she
must be in good academic standing, maintaining no less than a 2.0 GPA.

Some media design skills preferred
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work within a team

Work Conditions: Frequent interruptions, some noise, fast-paced

Term: The Event Assistant will hold office from commencement to


commencement or until their duly elected successors take office.

Salary: The Event Assistant shall be paid twenty-five (25%) percent of the
ASWSUV President’s salary, thus four thousand ($4000) for the entire
year.

Hours: The Event Assistant shall contribute at least eight (8) posted office hours
each week to his/her duties until commencement. Posted office hours must
be held between the hours of 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Workloads may
require additional hours.
