Procedures & Submission of Application for DSA-Sec Exercise into Year 1 (2017)
Submitting a Complete Application
A complete application should consist of the following:
1. Completion of online application
2. Payment of Application Fee (S$20)
3. Submission of Printed copy of completed online application
4. Submission of Hand-Written Personal Statement (signed and dated)
5. Submission of Printed copies of Application Checklist AND supporting documents
All required documents must be received by the RGS Admission Office before 2:00 PM on
Friday, 8 July 2016.
Completion of online application
Applicants are allowed to submit only ONE application online. This online application may
take you 15-20 minutes to complete.
Please use the Previous and Next buttons as you navigate through the application (do
NOT use the Back function of your browser). This is the safest way to preserve your work
as you complete the application. Clicking the Next button would save your work as you
proceed.
You must click the Save and Exit button if you wish to save your work before exiting the
application. The Save and Exit button is at the bottom of each application page. If you do
not click Save and Exit, anything entered since your last save on that screen will be lost.
You will be automatically logged out of the application when you close your browser
window.
You may return to any of these pages by logging in on the application portal page.
Once your application is submitted, it will no longer be possible to change it.
You are advised to have a printer connected to the computer before you begin as you are
required to submit a printed copy of the completed online application.

Note: Applicants, who are currently not studying in local MOE schools, are required to
obtain a registration number from MOE Customer Service Centre (CSC) before they may
proceed with their application.
Step 1:
Create an application account to begin the application process.
Once you log in with your BC / FIN number and password, you will be presented with further
instructions on filling out the various sections:
personal particulars
particulars of parent/guardian
details of educational background and academic results
details of awards/scholarship/bursary
participation and achievement in talent domain
details on leadership
details of co-curricular activities
details of service learning and community involvement

Please ensure that your local mobile contact number and email address provided in the
application is valid to facilitate any further correspondence regarding your application,
test and/or interview dates.

Step 2:
Check that all sections of the application have been completed correctly before submitting.
You must submit your form online. It is a one-time submission. Downloaded application
form will not be accepted.
Step 3:
Print a copy of your submitted online application so that you may begin to complete a handwritten personal statement, in no more than 500 words, on one of the following:
The Raffles Programme is committed to the development of the person, the
thinker, the leader and the pioneer. Describe a situation from your experience that
required you to uphold a value or principle dear to you. Tell us what difficulties you
encountered (if any) and how you dealt with them.
Write about something that you have accomplished (other than grades) in school
or in the community, which you are proud of. Describe how you went about
achieving it and why you think it was significant.
Please sign your name and the date at the end of your hand-written personal statement to
certify that the statement is true and is the product of your own work.

Payment of Application Fee (S$20)


A non-refundable application fee of S$20 must accompany your application. You may pay by
any of the following acceptable modes:
eNets (this mode is made available on the online application)
Cash
Cheque (make payable to RGS in Singapore dollars; have name of applicant,
BC/FIN number & contact number written on the reverse side of the cheque).
DO NOT send cash by POST. Cash payment is to be made at the RGS General office only.
Please note that applications without application fee will not be processed.
For students under the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS), supporting document for a waiver
is required.

Submission of Hard Copies of Completed Online Application, Application Checklist AND


Supporting Documents (by REGISTERED MAIL or HAND DELIVERY)
Submit the printed Copies of the completed Online Application, Application Checklist AND
ALL Supporting Documents to RGS before 2:00 PM on Friday, 8 July 2016.
Hard copies of the required documents must be arranged in the following order:
1. Application Checklist.
2. Completed Online Application with a recent passport-sized colour photograph
affixed, including Hand-Written Personal Statement.
3. Proof of eNETS payment of the non-refundable application fee of S$20 OR
Supporting Document for a waiver of application fee, if applicable
4. Primary 5 Mid-Year and End-of-Year Holistic Development Profile Reports.
5. Primary 6 Mid-Year Holistic Development Profile Reports, if available.

6. Awards/Scholarships/Bursary, if any.
7. Additional Qualifications Highest Level required only. Please provide only
supporting documents related to area of Talent indicated in DSA.
Please note that all documents submitted are non-returnable. DO NOT submit original
documents. Applicants must be prepared to produce the original documents for verification
purposes upon request when necessary.
The application deadline of 2:00PM, Friday, 8 July 2016, is a received-by date and not a
postmarked date, so please give yourself ample time to submit the hard copies of the
documents prior to the deadline.
Applicants will be notified when their applications have been received.

Important Information:
The RGS General Office is opened from Mon to Fri, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and closed
on Sat & Sun.
School Closure:
Due to a school event, Admissions Office will be closed on 27 May 2016. There will be no
collection of DSA application forms and documents or payment.
The school will be closed from 3 5 June 2016 as the school premises will be used for the
2016 International Institute of Strategic Studies Asia Security Conference.

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by 30 August 2016
(tentative).

Detailed results of the GAT, Half-Day Programme, interviews, trials, and auditions if
any, will not be released.

RGS reserves the right not to release the results or the reasons for non-selection and
regret that we are unable to provide information on application outcome or status
over the telephone.

Successful DSA-Sec students are NOT allowed to participate in the Secondary One
Posting Exercise to opt for secondary schools.

Successful DSA-Sec students are also NOT allowed to transfer to another school
after the release of the PSLE results. They are expected to honour the commitment
to the posted DSA School for the duration of the programme admitted to.

All International Students are required to take part in the Admissions Exercise for
International Students (AEIS) before they are considered for DSA-Sec allocation.
