Dear Friends,

First of all, do not worry about the latest earthquake in Nepal and tremors felt across North
India. We already have a team of 40 children in Manali who started their adventure program
on 11th May and they have not felt any tremors in and around Manali. They came to know
about the quake only after we enquired and informed them about it.
So, Himachal Pradesh is fine and Hampta Pass Trekking Program-Batch 1 is ON. There are
no changes to the program plan.
Thank you everyone for attending the briefing on Sunday, 10th May and we are writing this
email to summarize what we covered in the briefing with few more ADDITIONAL POINTS.
We request everyone to go through this email in full so that we are all well prepared for the
adventure.
1. Please be on time at the airport (1.5 hours before at least) for a smooth and comfortable
check-in. Ensure you do not carry any restricted items in your cabin baggage (backpack) such
as swiss knife, scissors, nail cutters, match box, liquids (except water) in your cabin baggage.
Pack these items all in your check-in baggage (Rucksack).
Please DO CARRY mobiles, cameras, cash and other expensive gadgets in your cabin
baggage (backpack) with you, they are allowed inside the flight.
You need ORIGINAL PHOTO ID CARD to enter inside the Airport and for check-in.
2. Reporting point at Delhi - Please report to below mentioned location by 5 PM on 16th May
2015.

Himachal Bhawan
27, Near Mandi House Metro Station
Sikandra Rd
Mandi House
New Delhi, Delhi 110001
Phone: 011 2371 6124
It will take around 1 hour to reach Himachal Bhwan from the New Delhi;s IGI Airport in a
taxi. We would suggest you hire a pre-paid taxi from the Airport for a hassle free drop to the
above location.
3. We are traveling by Himachal Tourism Volvo bus which is about 14-15 hours overnight
journey to Manali. It will get very cold inside the bus late in the night when we are on the
mountain ranges. So, please keep your wind cheater/light jacket, personal medicine handy in
your backpack so that you can use them inside the bus if needs be. Please let us know if you
have travel/motion sickness so that we can assist you with appropriate medicines before
boarding the bus. You can also wear floaters/slippers with socks for a comfortable flight and
bus journey and pack your shoes inside the rucksack. We will have dinner and early morning
tea en-route. The bus leaves Delhi by 6 PM and should reach Manali by 9 AM next day if the
route is clear without any traffic jams.

4. Trekking Gear - Please see the attached checklist to assist yourself for the items to be
carried for the trek. One of our team which is already at Manali has reported a good amount
of snow fall on higher mountain regions, so please be prepared for the cold conditions at
higher camps. Carry THERMALS, woolen gloves, balaclava (monkey cap), sweater or jacket
without fail.
Please try and pack light, ideally we need 1 set of clothes (formals or casuals) for traveling in
flight/bus, 2 sets of track pants and t-shirts for trekking, 1 set of track pant and t-shirt for
nightwear exclusively. 4-5 pairs of socks with sports/trekking shoes with good grip.
Please note that Manali market is closed on Sunday and hence do not leave your shopping to
the last minute and till Manali.
When you are packing your rucksack, ensure all the straps are tied and fixed correctly. Pack
your clothes inside one plastic cover or in multiple covers so that the clothes don't get wet in
the rain while they are carried in the bus or on the horses. Yes, the bags may get wet inside
the luggage box too if there is water logging on the roads due to rain.
You don't have to carry Sl. No. 1, 3, 4, 24, 30.
5. Poncho - Poncho is a thin rain cover made out of polythene material to protect from the
rain. Carry it without fail if you have one or we can issue one to you in Manali.
6. Accommodation - The accommodation throughout the trek starting from the base camp is
in tents and there will be separate accommodation for Gents and Ladies. There is a bathing
facility available only at base campsite and not in the further upper campsites. There are
proper toilets at the base camp and 'tent toilets' at the upper camps. Carry sufficient tissue
rolls since water may be cold in the upper camps.
7. Food - We will provide wholesome vegetarian food throughout the trek.
8. Route - It is beautiful trek route starting from green Apple Orchards to Snow covered
mountains. We assure you a great and wonderful trek if you listen to the instructors and
respect the nature. Please expect change in route (detour) due to unfavorable weather
conditions.
9. Activities - There will be some adventure activities post lunch and fun around campfire in
the evening.
10. Charging points - The charging points available only at the base camp, no where in the
upper camps. Photographers - please carry spare batteries and sufficient memory cards
depending on your usage.
11. Medical kit - There will be a centralized medical kit with the team. Carry your personal
medicine along with you. Also, we have a doctor in the team who is glad to help us out on
health related issues.
We will have a detailed briefing about the program and trek at Prini Campsite.
See you on the mighty Himalayas...

Please call me on 98456 04799 or Purnima on 98451 32367 for any queries.
Regards,
Sudhakara P N
