Pantograph Mechanism Overview

The document describes a pantograph mechanism that uses a four-bar linkage consisting of two spur gears and four links to convert rotational motion into linear horizontal motion. This allows one pen to trace an image which will produce identical movements in a second pen, creating a straight line on paper.

Pantograph Mechanism

Objective: To create a Pantograph mechanism to

produce a straight line on paper.
Description: A pantograph is a mechanical linkage
connected in a manner based on parallelograms so that
the movement of one pen, in tracing an image, produces
identical movements in a second pen. It is a four- bar
mechanism consisting of two spur gears and four links.
This will convert rotational motion into linear horizontal
motion.
