CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS
The following specifications are supplemental to the plans and
drawings. Any changes to be made, the contractor should inform any
authorized representatives pertaining to this project. The contractor
has the option to improve the quality of materials and works. Any
deviation of the plans, the contractor should submit written request
and seek approval before the execution of the work.
I. MOBILIZATION AND EARTHWORKS
1. All excavations shall be done based on the dimensions stated in
the plan. All fill /
backfill materials should be free from
undesirable materials.
2. Compaction for fill and backfill should be done layer by layer.
3. Observe cleanliness during the whole duration of the
construction.
4. All identified dilapidated structure to be removed should be removed
and disposed properly.
II.
CONCRETE AND MASONRY WORKS
1. Use standard size of deformed steel bars as indicated in the plan.
All RSB should be cleaned before installation so as not reduce the
bond with the concrete.
2. Clean forms and check all installations before placing concrete.
3. Wet surfaces thoroughly before pouring of concrete.
4. All hooks/bent and splices of bars are of standard based on ACI
code and proper location of splices should be observed based on
ACI code.
5. Concrete mixture proportion is [Link] or equivalent strength of
3,000 psi. No pouring of concrete without the presence of the
implementing representative.
6. All sand and gravel should be well washed to remove the salty
compound. Gravel and sand should not be taken from the
seashore.
7. Use # 16 tie wires.
8. Use 4 thk CHB for walls.
9. All intersections of CHB wall should be interlocked with proper
reinforcement of 10 mm .
[Link] & TINSMITHING WORKS
1. All lumber to be used should be good lumber.
2. For forms, coco lumber will be allowed provided that can stand
forces/load of concrete, use ordinary plywood.
3. Use thk. Marine Plywood for Ceiling.
IV. STEEL AND METAL WORKS
1. All sizes of steels/metals should be standard size. All bars must
be cleaned before installation. Standard welds should be
observed and details based on plans.
2. All joints should be well grinded and defined, to maintain the
strength of the joints, provide V-cut or groove during welding to
attain the strong connection or bonding.

V. ELECTRICAL & PLUMBING WORKS
1. All plumbing and electrical works shall be done in accordance
with the approved plans and shall conform with the provision of
National Electrical and Plumbing Code.
VI.
PAINTING WORKS
1. Use Boysen paint on all painting works.
2. Clean all metal before applying any paint especially those rusted
portion. No rust portion should be seen after painting.
3. For metals use metal primer (red lead).
4. All roof framing should be painted with red lead primer including
purlins and trusses.
5. On concrete, allow all surfaces to dry before applying concrete
neutralizer before painting. First coat use latex and two coats
semi gloss for final coat.
6. For ceiling, use flat enamel.
7. All metal should be well cleaned with no oil/grease before
painting.
VII.
DEMOBILIZATION
1. All equipment and tools, excess materials should be removed
from the site before turnover.
2. All excess fill materials from excavation should be disposed on
the expense of the contractor.
3. Clean all the site and affected area before turn-over.

V. TILING WORKS
1. Use unglazed tiles for floor and glazed for walls.
2. Mortar mixture is 1:2, one part cement and 2 parts sand for floor
tiles and pure cement for walls.
3. Gap between tiles is about 3/16 and this should be well cleaned
before applying tile grout.
4. Mixture/consistency of grout should be enough to fill all voids
beneath the tiles. Avoid hardened grout, it should be uniformly
applied.
5. After applying the grout, tiles should be well cleaned using dry
and soft rags as final touch and should be done to remove
excesses to avoid stains.
6. All portions of tiles should be thoroughly filled with
mortar/cement.

EMBANKMENT
1. Embankment materials shall be constructed of suitable material.
2. Prior to construction of embankment, all necessary clearing shall have
been performed.
3. Compaction operation should be carried out in various stages of
construction by layers and only of specified thickness of not more than
150 mm.
4. No succeeding layer shall be laid unless the previously compacted
layer has attained the required degree of compaction.
