Earthquake
It is said that a building is earthquake resistant when designed and constructed with
adequate structural configuration, with components of appropriate dimensions and
materials with a ratio and sufficient strength to withstand the action of the forces caused by
frequent earthquakes. Even when design and build a building meeting all the requirements
indicated by the design standards and earthquake-resistant construction, there is always
the possibility that an even stronger earthquake in mind that those who have been
provided and must be resisted by the building without damage occurring. For this reason
there are no totally earthquake-resistant buildings. However, the earthquake resistance is
a property or ability that gives the building in order to protect life and the people who
occupy it. Although damages arise in the case of a very strong earthquake, an earthquakeresistant building will not collapse and will contribute to leaks total loss of lives and
property.
Earthquake-proof
Construction and earthquake-resistant structures are those that we will admit withstand
quakes much more superior resistance, for which the engineers entrusted to the
construction of housing have taken into account certain key details to make them
invulnerable to these circumstances.
The earthquake-resistant construction includes all buildings and infrastructure built to
withstand earthquakes without collapsing.
Through the strong earthquake engineering to build a strong, non-rigid building concepts
often confused with design earthquake is studied.
