The following principles can be applied, when
the Prasna deals with Success or Failure of an
undertaking. The answer to such questions are
usually Yes, No, or Yes after effort and
difculties.
The rst step is to identify the Bhava governing
the Prasna. The lord of that Bhava becomes the
Karaka. One should not have any inhibition
related to taking the Bhava lord as the Karaka.
Depending on the prasna lagna, the children can
be governed by any Graha i.e., Shani, Mangal,
Guru or any other graha.
There are few principles culled from few
important Jyotish classics. In summary they are
(1) Strength of Lagna and the Lagnesha. (2)
Strength of Chandra or Chandra Rasyadhipati.
(3) Strength of the Karaka (lord of the Karya
Bhava), and (4) Association between the Karaka
and the Lagna.
The strength can be through conjunction or
aspect of Shubha Graha on the Lagna. Lagna
rising in Shubha Vargas, particularly Drekkana
and Navamsa. Lagna rising in a Shirshodaya
Rasi, or even a Manushya Rasi. The reverse can
cause weaknesses.
The Association between the Lagna and the
Karya Bhava can be established by exchange,
mutual aspect between their lords, or
conjunction in either in the Lagna, or the Karya
Bhava or anywhere. Even if they conjoin in a
Dusthana, their will be some success. But,
ideally they should be aspected by Shubha
grahas, for removing the blemish due to the
Dusthana placement.
The fortication of Karya Bhava can be in the
forms of conjunction or aspect of its lord or
Shubha Grahas. In addition, the Kendra and
Kona from the Bhava should be fortied by
Shubha grahas by conjunction or aspects.
Ideally the Krura grahas should be placed in the
Trishadaayas from the Bhava, and the Randhra
and Vyaya should be devoid of any grahas,
particularly Krura Grahas.
The strength of Chandra is paramount in
Prasna. One should not undertake prasna when
Chandra is weak in Paksha Bala, particularly
Amavashya, the before and after Tithi. Also,
preferably, the Prasna should be asked during
Day time, when Guru and Shukra are strong, in
addition to Surya. They help in guiding the
Jyotishis mind well, and also indicate that the
Prasna will bear good fruits. Also, Prasna should
be avoided during eclipses and other
inauspicious time, i.e., the rising time of Gulika.
Prasna Tantra 2.34. Success in the matters
asked by the querist is attained when (1)
Lagnesha and the Karaka aspect their own
Bhavas, (2) The Lagnesha aspects the Bhava
and the Karaka aspects the Lagna, (3) The
Lagnesha and the Karaka are in mutual aspect,
(4) Chandra aspects both the Lagnesha and the
Karaka.
Prasna Tantra 2.58. The chances of success
will be 1 pada, 2 pada, 3 pada or Purna (4pada)
as, (a) the Lagna is not aspected either by
Lagnesha or a Shubha Graha; (b) the Lagnesha
is aspected by Shubha Grahas; (c) at least one
Shubha grahas aspects the Lagna and the
Lagnesha; or the Lagnesha or 2 to 3 Shubha
grahas occupy the Karma Bhava (10H); or 3
Shubha grahas aspect the Lagna; and (d) Lagna
is aspected by Lagnesha, or Chandra is free
from afiction and Shubha grahas aspect the
Lagna.
Prasna Tantra 2.9. Such Grahas defeated in
war by Krura Grahas, those associated with or
aspected by Krura Grahas and Grahas in
combustion give unfavourable results. Note:
These are few examples of Avasthas. The entire
range of 10 Avasthas should be looked into.
Prasna Tantra 2.1012. A query such as
when will I succeed should be answered thus:
There will be success when (a) the Lagnesha
aspects the Karya Bhava and the Karaka
aspects the Lagna; or (b) the Karaka being
situated in the Lagna aspects Lagnesha; (c) or
the Karaka occupying another Bhava aspects
the Lagnesha; or (d) the Karaka aspects the
Lagna, Lagnesha and Chandra; or (e) the
Lagnesha and the Karaka are conjunct either in
the Lagna or the Karya Bhava. In (b) and (c) the
success will be immediate or delayed
respectively.
Prasna Tantra 2.13. The object of the query
will not be fullled if the Karaka does not aspect
the Lagna or the Lagnesha. In a query pertaining
to success or failure no house other than the
ascendant can be considered important.
Daivajna Vallabha 2.1. The ve auspicious
omens produce the achievement of desired
objects. And the ve inauspicious omens lead to
undesirable results. If both the auspicious and
inauspicious omens are observed, the results
has to be judged based on the strength of the
omens. Results can also be proclaimed on the
basis of the strength of even four or less
number of omens.
Daivajna Vallabha 2.2. (1) The Bhava that is
occupied or aspected by its lord, yields its
results fully. (2) When the Kendra (1, 4, 7, 10)
and Dvirdvadasa (2, 12) from a Bhava is
occupied by Shubha Grahas, the Bhava
ourishes. If the said places are occupied by
Krura grahas, the Bhava is destroyed.
Daivajna Vallabha 2.20. When the Lagna falls
in a Sirshodaya Rasi, or in a Rasi owned by a
Shubha Graha, the results of the Query will be
auspicious. On the contrary, i.e., when the lagna
falls in a Prshtodaya Rasi, or owned by Krura
Grahas, the results will be inauspicious. Under
mixed conditions, the results will be mixed.
Notes: Mithuna, Simha, Kanya, Tula, Vrschika
and Kumbha are the Sirshodaya Rasis. The
remaining excluding Meena are Prshtodaya
Rasis. Meena is Ubhayodaya Rasi. Also, the
Shubha or Krura vargas of the Lagna should be
noticed.
Daivajna Vallabha 2.21. The desired results
of the querist are achieved, when Shubha grahas
occupy the Kendra (1, 4, 7, 10) or the trikonas (5,
9) (from the Bhava) and Krura grahas occupy
the Trishadaaya (3, 6, 11), and no occupy the
Kendras, Trikonas and the Randhra (8H).
Daivajna Vallabha 2.22. When
Kendradhipaties occupy the Lagna or a Mitra of
the Lagnesha occupies a Kendra, and the Krura
Grahas dont occupy the Kendras, 8th and 12th
houses, the results of the query will be
auspicious. Notes: Usually occupation of a
Kruragraha in the Lagna is not considered
auspicious, however, in a special case, the Krura
graha owns a Kendra, then their occupation is
not fraught with blemish. Similarly, occupation
of a Krura Graha in a Kendra is not auspicious,
however, if the graha happens to the the friend
of the Lagnesha, it is free from blemish. But
Krura grahas should never occupy the Randhra
and Vyaya.
Daivajna Vallabha 2.23. (1) When the Lagna
falls in a Manushya Rasi (biped sign) and
aspected by Shubha Graha, or (2) Shubha Graha
occupy the Kendra from Lagna, and Krura
grahas occupy the Trishadaaya, then good
results, gains and nancial prosperity can be
foretold. Notes: This can be extended to any the
Kendra and Trishadaaya to any Bhava under
consideration.
Daivajna Vallabha 2.24. The Manushya Rasis
are: Mithuna, Kanya, Tula, Kumbha (and 1st half
of Dhanu) are Manushya Rasis. If Shubha
grahas occupy these Rasis, the results are
auspicious. Krura grahas in the Labha and
Vyaya dont yield auspicious results. Kshina
Chandra in Lagna is inauspicious, but
auspicious in the Karma Bhava (10H). Notes:
Chandra is Kshina between K10 to S5 (Ref:
Saravali).
Daivajna Vallabha 2.25. When Lagna falls in
either Manushya or Pashu Rasis, and aspected
by Krura Grahas, troubles are bound to arise. But
when Shubha Grahas aspect them, auspicious
results arise (after initial difculties). When
Lagna rises in a Manushya Rasi, the results are
always positive. Notes: The Pashu (quadrupeds)
Rasis are Mesha, Vrshabha, Simha, and 2nd half
of Dhanu.
Daivajna Vallabha 2.26. When Lagna and
Chandra are both aspected by Shubha Grahas,
the results are auspicious. However, if both of
them are aspected by Krura Grahas, the results
are inauspicious. Thus have been declared the
results arising out of Chandra.
Sanketa Nidhi 8.21. (1) If we count from the
Rasis from Surya to the Prasna Lagna (both
inclusive), and get an odd number, the result will
be auspicious; if the count is even, the result will
be inauspicious. (2) Another Method: Count the
number of letters emanating from the querists
mouth. This number should be multiplied by 2
and the product divided by 3. If the remainder be
1, auspiciousness is indicated. If the remainder
is 0 or 2, inauspiciousness is indicated.
Sanketa Nidhi 8.22. (1) If at the time of a
query Shubha Grahas occupy he Kendras and
Trikonas, while the Krura Grahas occupy the
Trishadaaya, and the Prasna Lagna falls in a
Shirshodaya Rasi, the object of the query will be
successful. (2) Yet another method: Count the
number of letters coming out of the mouth of
the querist. This number should be multiplied by
6 and 8 added to the product. The sum so
arrived at should then be divided by 7. If the
remainder is 2, 4, 5 or 6, the result will be
auspicious.
Sanketa Nidhi 8.23. (1) When Krura Grahas
occupy the 6th, 7th and 8th from the prasna
lagna, the querist will suffer loss of wealth,
distress, diseases and threat from enemies. (2)
Again, when the Prasna Lagnesha is conjunct
with Krura Grahas, then also the results will be
the same, and the native will lose his mental
peace.
