Simulcrypt Integration Guide

The document discusses Secure CAS (SCAS), a secure TV broadcast system that supports multiple conditional access systems (CAS). SCAS allows operators to interface their subscriber management system to two or more CAS, including SCAS, to manage set-top boxes. SCAS integrates with broadcast multiplexers using DVB-Simulcrypt standards, allowing the multiplexer to encrypt video and distribute control words and entitlement management messages to all CAS systems. Integrating SCAS involves interfacing it with the operator's subscriber management system and then with the multiplexer.

Simulcrypt Integration Steps

Step 1: OSS/BSS/SMS integration:
a. Operators SMS interfaces to SCAS.
b. Subscriber provisioning and subscription data is fed to SCAS system.
c. SCAS system uses this SMS data to manage subscriber.
Typical integration time is 2 to 4 weeks.
Integration scripts and interface stress test tools are supplied.
Step 2: MUX Integration
a. SCAS supports DVB-Simulcrypt Standard making Mux integration fast.
b. A simple update to the Mux settings is performed to enable the Mux to
interface to SCAS over TCP/IP or ASI.
c. SCAS has been interfaced with Harmonic, Tandberg, Ericsson, and
Philips Muxs.
c. Typical integration time for a new Mux is 1 to 3 weeks.
Upon completion of the above 2 steps the SCAS system is integrated and
Simulcrypting with other CAS vendors.
