Technology Integration Template-Screencasting

Snagit is a screencasting software that allows users to record their computer screen and share videos. It can be used by both teachers and students to create instructional videos. For example, a teacher could use Snagit to demonstrate how to complete homework or assignments. Students could also create screencasts to teach each other what they have learned. This promotes student-centered learning and mastery of concepts as students can re-watch videos if they need additional help or missed class. The screencasting allows for collaboration and active learning that engages students.

INTEGRATION/IMPLEMENTATION IDEA - SCREENCASTING

How might you use this resource to promote student learning? Describe who will be doing
the screencasting you or your students, and what purpose it will serve.

Both I and the students can screencast. This can help students by teaching each other what they
learned, like if they are each working on a part of a chapter and want to share the information with
everybody else. It is also good for a teacher to use, because a teacher can teach online, show how to do
the homework, work a system, etc.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION
Given the information above, how would the technology integration you described,
using the selected resource? (On the Value-Added Rating Scale above)
Explain your rating based on the indicators on the rubric.

This tool can be used for any standard and any grade, so it will align with content standards. While it
wouldnt necessarily transform a lesson in a way that would be impossible; however, it would really help
in the mastery of a subject. If students need more help with something, then the students can view a
screencast of a teacher doing example problems. It can also help a student view a lesson if they miss
class that day. Students can also become more engaged in class by teaching each other owning their
own learning.
