gerund.
1. Examples: sing - singing, eat - eating, play playing, go - going, tidy - tidying
Most verbs do not undergo spelling changes, and you only have to add to the base form.
2. Examples: come - coming, write - writing, live - living
In those verbs ending in 1 vowel + 1 consonant + E you delete the E and then add .
3. Examples: swim swimming, sit sitting, forget -forgetting; open opening, mix - mixing
In those verbs ending in 1 consonant + 1 stressed vowel + 1 consonant, you

Students have to fill in the gaps to complete the conjugation of the verb to study in the
Present Continuous.
Then, looking at some examples, they have to complete the spelling rules for the -ing form.
