HUL Distribution Network Overview

Hindustan Unilever Ltd. sources raw materials from over 2000 suppliers for its over 40 production sites across India. Its products are distributed through 4000 redistribution stockists covering over 6 million retail outlets serving both urban and 2.5 million rural consumers. Goods are transported from manufacturing sites to 40 carrying and forwarding agents by truck or rail, then from agents to redistribution stockists using the lowest cost mode. The agents are paid a fee to deliver and stock goods at their depots.

HUL products are distributed through a wide and well-connected network of 4000+
Redistribution Stockists covering over 6 million retail outlets catering to the entire urban
population and a little over 2.5 million rural consumers
There are 40+ Carrying and Forwarding Agents which supply to the Redistribution Stockists.
The C&FA is usually a Third Party and is paid a Servicing Fee for delivery and stocking of goods
The goods reach the Depot from the Manufacturing Site with the help of C&FA
The transportation from Manufacturing Site to C&FA is carried out through either Trucks or
Rail Road. From the C&FA the goods are further transferred to Redistribution Stockists by the
mode of transport available at the least cost
