Comprehending and applying the expressions of embarrassment.
B. Basic Competence
The students know how to analyze social function, text structure, and linguistics
element in the phrase in the phrase of expressing embarrassment according to the
contextual using.

1. Cognitive
a. The students can perform the expression of embarrassment
b. The students are able to identify the meaning of embarrassment expression
according to the context of using

The presentation of material that is given by the teacher to the students
(accepting and comprehending)

E. Material of Learning
The material used in this teaching-learning process is some common simple
expressions of embarrassment and example of simple dialogue to help the students
understand how to use the expression.

Example : Siska looks embarrassed
: Siska looks extremely embarrassed
: Duta becomes ashamed everytime Siska looks at him

Example : Elsa : Hi, Kevin. What are you doing here?
Kevin : I wanted to deliver the product that my customer ordered to
his his house. But then I came to the wrong house. How
embarrassing!
Elsa : Oh, thats why you look so nervous. Do you have his address?
Kevin : Yes, Kenanga street number 14.
Elsa : Well, you came to the wrong street then. This street is named
Kemangi. Kenanga street is right afer this street.
Kevin : Hmm, no wonder I came to the wrong house. Thank you Elsa.
Elsa : Youre welcome.
F. Method of Learning
The method that is used in the teaching-learning process is cooperative learning.
The students will be guided to work in group to solve the problems given by the teacher.
G. Steps of Teaching-Learning Process
Opening Activity
Greeting students using English to build English atmosphere in the classroom
Checking studdents readiness by checking the attendance, uniform and seat to be
fiitted with the learning activity
Giving example communicatively related to expressing embarrassment material
Explaining basic competence and the objective to be achieved, it is in order the
students are able to communicate in the context of embarrassments expression
Preparing media and supportive tools for the teaching-learning activity
Core Activity
Students are listening and writing the explanation given by the teacher about common
expression of embarrassment
Students are reading the example to comprehend the using of the expressions
With the help of the teacher, students are identifying the meaning, contextual using
and function of the expressions
Students are guided to sit on groups of six to work on assessment
Each group is given word-cards that are the pieces of conversational expression of
embarrassment
The students in group are asked to set the random word-cards to form a sentence of
embarrassment expression
After finishing the sentence, students are asked to read the conversation aloud
Closing Activity
Doing evaluation and reflection by asking students what they get from the learning of
expressing embarrassment
Asking students opinion about the activities done as an input and evaluation material
for the next meeting
Students are preparing their stuff to close the teaching-learning process

I. Assessment
The assessment in this lesson will be done in groups. The students are given
word-cards that are random pieces of sentences that they have to arrange in order. The
sentences are conversational expression of embarrassment that contain the using of
embarrassed, embarrassing, ashamed ,etc. to check the students understanding on
the using of those words. After getting finished, they have to perform/read the results
aloud.

Conversation 1
A : I /had /an /embarrassing /moment /that /made /me /feel /very /embarrased.
B : What /is /the /embarrassing /moment /that /made /you /feel /embarrassed?
A : Well, /I /was /on /the /beach /with /friends. /Then /I /saw /an /old /friend......
B : /Then /what /is /so /embarrassing /about /it? /You /shouldnt /be /ashamed /at
/all.
A : Because /I /called /her /name. /I /thought /she /was /my /old /friend /but /she
/was /not.
B : Oh, /thats /a /real /embarrassment. /No /wonder /you /feel /extremely
/ashamed /about /it.
A : I /know. /I /hope /it /was /just /a /dream. /Tell /me /it /never /happened.
Conversation 2
A : Why /are /you /looking /so /awkward? /Did /something /just /happened /to
/you?
B : Yes, /I /accidentally /got /into /the /wrong /class. /It /was /so /embarrassing.
A : You /must /be /very /embarrassed. You /were /daydreaming, /werent /you?
B : Yes, /I /was. /When /I /realized /that /it /was /not /my /class, /I /saw
/everyone /looked /at /me.
A : Well, /thats /a /real /embarrassment. /I /cant /imagine /what /you /felt /that
/time.
B : You /woulnt /believe /it. My /face /went /so /red /as /I /walked /out /of /the
/class.
Conversation 3
A : What /will /happen /if /you /get /the /lowest /score /in /an /examination?
B : I /dont /know. /Of /course /I /will /blush /with /embarrassment /because /of
/that.
A : Maybe /our /parents /will /be /embarrassed /too. /It /is /very /embarrassing.
B : They /will /also /be /angry. /I /hope /this /thing /will /never /happen /to /me.
A : Yes, /I /hope /so. /I /will /be /very /ashamed /if /I /get /the /lowest /score.
B : Then /we /have /to /study /hard /to /get /good /score. /I /dont /want /to /be
/embarrassed /because /of /that.
