The GLASSX crystal method of functioning.

GLASSXcrystal integrates 4 system components in a functional unit:
transparent heat insulation, protection from overheating, energy conversion and thermal storage.

A triple insulating glazing unit provides the system with excellent thermal insulation
of a U-value of U=0,48 W/m2K. A prismatic pane in the outermost air-gap reflects the solar radiation
at high altitudes in summer and transmits it at altitudes below 35° in winter. As a key component acts the slim
heat storage module, equivalent to a storage capacity of about 20 cm concrete. The storage material is a
salt hydrate PCM (Phase Change Material). Solar heat is stored in the PCM by means of a melting process.
During night time and the following days the stored heat is delivered to the interior during recristallisation.
The salt hydrate is contained in a Polycarbonate box. The interior toughened glass pane could optionally be
coated with a screen printing. The whole system appears as a translucent wall.

Versatile, innovative and completely maintenance free

Maintenance and lifetime

GLASSX®crystal is a translucent wall element without any mechanical components
or electronic devices. Thus the functionality may be guaranteed over a long lifetime
without maintenance.

Efficient, unfailing and noticeable comfortable

Comfort
High sur face temperatures (26 °C to 28 °C) on the inside of the element lead to more
room comfor t. In winter, the inner side of GLASSXcr ystal functions as a solar tiled stove,
giving of f uniform and pleasant radiant heat, which significantly improves the
thermal comfor t and thus the comfor t in the home.

Ef ficiency
GLASSXcr ystal has a high ef ficiency because line and storage losses do not apply.
This system has no threshold losses; energy is input even in the case of dif fuse solar radiation.
