Bike Fitting Guide and Measurements

This document provides guidelines for properly fitting a bike based on body measurements. It recommends determining frame size by multiplying inseam in cm by 0.65. It describes adjusting the saddle height based on inseam, keeping the saddle parallel to the ground, and adjusting the fore-aft position based on femur length. Guidelines are given for fitting cleats based on foot size and positioning. Handlebar height should equal fist length and stem length is provided.

"A Good Bike Fit"

Frame Size
In order to determine a frame size that would be optimal for your body geometry, measure your
inseam and multiply it by .65cm

Equation:
Ground to crotch (in cm) x .65cm
84 x 0.65 = 55 Your optimal frame size

Seat Adjusment
inseam in inches x conversion Inseam in cm 0.883
32 x 2.54 = 81.28 x 0.883 =

Saddle Tilt
Your saddle should be parrallel to the ground or level Level

Fore / aft positioning

Plumb bob to determine the knee in relation to the pedal spindle
Dependent specifically on femur length
If you have a long femur you may want to push yourself backward
If you have a short femur you may want to adjust yourself forward frwd

Cleats
The largest part of you foot should be fitted over the pedal spindle
Locate the first metatarsal philange joint and align it with the center of the pedal axle
Longer feet should have the cleat pushed back towards the heel
Shorter feet should have the cleat pushed forward towards the toes

Handlebars
Place your elbow at the end of your seat and determine if your middle fingure is 1 inch from the stem.
This measurement does not take into consideration longwasited and shortwaisted body types but it is a
great beginning

Measure your fist from pinky to index fingure 10 cm

Measure bar top 52 cm
Measure saddle top 41 cm
Your optimal handlebar height is 11 cm this should equal your fist length
Your Optimal stem length is: 110 mm
