TEXT: Thomas’ Calculus: Early Transcendentals, Haas, Heil, and Weir, Pearson, 14th ed., ISBN-10: 978-
0134439020
DESCRIPTION: Definite and Indefinite Integrals, The Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, Applications of the
definite integral. Integration techniques including integration by parts, integrals of trigonometric
products, partial fractions, substitution, trigonometric substitution. (Chapts 5, 6, & 8)
PREREQUISITE: C or better in MAT 114, Analytic Geometry and Calculus I.
MATERIALS: Writing implement, paper, graph paper, scientific calculator (No TI 89 or 92 or the equivalent
and above, no iPods, computer calculators, no phone calculators allowed).
EVALUATION: There will be homework problems assigned and due throughout the quarter. No late work will be
accepted.
A quiz should be expected each class meeting. These are about 10-20 minutes in length and
cover problems similar to the homework problems. There will be no makeup quizzes. Any
points earned over 50 will be considered extra.
Two exams are scheduled for weeks 4 and 8. There will be no make-up exams.
The comprehensive final exam is scheduled for Tuesday, March 13, 2018, 11:30 – 1:30 pm.
GRADING: Students are required to present their solutions to problems in a clear, coherent, and organized
form, using proper mathematical nomenclature.
