Personal Statement
A hardworking, reliable and committed second year Animal Science undergraduate with a strong
interest in microbiology and laboratory-based work. I work diligently and strive to complete any task
required which may include pushing myself out of my comfort zone, I also work to develop new skills
and improve existing ones to become more efficient and effective at my job. Overall a kind and easy
person to work with, great at team work as well as working independently and with good people skills.

DNA extraction, agarose gel electrophoresis, investigating inheritance and heritability
of traits in Drosophilia melanogaster. Statistical analysis techniques; ANOVA, student
t-tests, Mann-Whitney U and Wilcoxon’s tests.
Microbial isolation, cultivation and identification through colony morphology,
microscopic investigation, gram staining as well as biochemical tests such as catalase
and oxidase tests. Aseptic techniques, antibiotic sensitivity testing, radial
immunodiffusion and ELISA.
Dissection and histological investigations of all mammalian body systems as well as
comparative dissections of fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. Enzyme
assays and spectrophotometry. Feed analysis techniques to determine; ash, ether
extract, crude protein, crude fibre and nitrogen free extract composition.

Work Experience
Cineworld Cinemas (10/2015 - 08/2016, Staples Corner, London) – Team member
My role at Cineworld included providing excellent customer service and assisting customers with
queries alongside general duties of cash handling, selling and up-selling; food, tickets and marketing
products such as unlimited cards, limited edition cups and charms, time-managing and performing;
screen checks, cleaning of screens after movie showings and cleaning restrooms. I also assisted with
stock deliveries, stock counts and training of new staff, in addition to this I performed ID checks and
was trained on the popcorn machine.
The London Equestrian Centre (05/2012, London) – Volunteer stable hand
My two-week work experience at LEC included horse care duties such as; feeding, watering, grooming
and monitoring horse conditions, along with general duties of preparing horses and clients for lessons
and ensuring they are both ready for the scheduled time, tacking up, cleaning tack, mucking out stables
and tidying the yard. I also assisted in children lessons and parties hosted at the yard and was able to
help and work alongside vets, farriers, instructors and managers.
