Inquiry Lesson on Material Properties

The lesson plan aims to teach students about states of matter and solutions through an inquiry-based experiment. [1] Students will investigate what happens when solids and liquids are mixed together. [2] They will predict whether various materials like sugar, salt, and oil will dissolve in water. [3] Through conducting the experiment themselves and observing the results, students will discover how some substances dissolve to form solutions while others do not.

Professional Development Plan

(What do YOU need to work on in order to grow professionally?)

1. Goal: cover the lesson learning objective and build the students knowledge.

2. Strategies Used: plan well for the lesson.

3. Evidence: lesson plane, students assessment at the end of the lesson.

Grade Level: Subject: Learning Outcome (ADEC code and words):

Grade 6 Science -

Title of Lesson: A brief description of my Lesson in my own words:

 States of maters.  In this part of lesson students will be investigating what would happen
when children mixed a variety of solids and liquids together. so they well
explore these during the experiment they well do.

The problem that students are trying to solve or investigate (in my own The outcome or product of the students’ investigation (i.e. what will the students
words): be expected to produce at the end of their investigation)

 What are the solutions that dissolving in water?  Discover how some things dissolve in liquids.

Essential Question: Guided Questions:

 What are the solutions will dissolve in water ?  What are the states of matters? (solid, liquid ,gas)?
 What do you thinks if we mix some water and sugar ?
 what will happen for the sugar?
 What is your conclusion, why do you think for example: that sugar
dissolve in water?
 Can we reverse the sugar?
 Is your predict correct

Learning Outcomes (including strand and substrand)

 Students will be able to know that some materials will dissolve in liquid to form a solution.
