The poem describes seeing an angel who stopped the speaker from running away. The angel pierced the speaker's heart with his eyes and drew them in. The speaker was colored and melted inside by every step further away from the angel. They lost themselves in finding the angel, who turned to touch them and stop them from running away from love.
