my BSW requirements. Here, I practice the skills of a school social

work with kids with behavioral concerns as well as a major focus on
the attendance of the students. This internship is an unpaid
internship, provided by The University of North Carolina at
Pembroke. I have read with the students on a number of occasions, I
have also talked one-on-one with students, I have attended a field
trip with a girl’s group as one of the chaperones, there are many
other volunteer opportunities I have participated in while attending
my internship.
I have volunteer experience on and off campus. I have attended
volunteer events for my major as well as volunteer events for
campus involvement. For the past two years I have helped with the
freshman move-in and enjoyed it. I also volunteered at a substance
abuse facility in Laurinburg. Being a part of the mentoring program
on campus also brings forth many leadership skills within me. It
allows me to encourage others and lead my mentees as well as speak
positively and be able to help them as well. I’ve also volunteered in
Fayetteville, NC, helping others set up for important events,
participating in roadside cleanups, as well as being apart of car
washes and lending helping hands to those in the community. After
Hurricane Matthew hit, I had the opportunity to volunteer at the
clothing bank in Lumberton helping give back to those who may have
lost many items.
