This case comment discusses the Supreme Court case Sarbananda Sonowal v Union of India (2005) where the Supreme Court upheld the constitutional validity of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2003. The Act amended provisions of the Citizenship Act, 1955 to grant citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians who entered India from Bangladesh before December 31, 2014. The Court held that the Act did not violate any constitutional provisions.
