PROJECT SYNOPSIS

PROJECT DETAIL:-
 Title: Planning & design of hostel construction,
 Domain: Construction engineering,
 Category: Civil project

INTRODUCTION:
A exact plan and design of construction is the major task
in engineering studies. This hostel was developed based
on the requirement.It will perfectly match to the both
boys and girls living style.Naw-a-days constructing the
hostel for students is a major thing for college
management.Because the students are coming from
various places like city and villages.So it is a must have
facility.Reduce the current accommodation of crisis at
the university.
Material used for this construction are brics, sand,
cement, stone, timber, metal, plastic, water and more.
The hostel will provide the following:
 Appropriate environment for living as well as
studying.
 Opportunities for informal acadmic and social
interchange.
 Privacy and quite place where people are living in
close proximity and are sharing facilities-
most students will not have the opportunity to
choose their neighbors.

Scope of project:-
 Site selection,
 Climate condition detail,
 Soil condition report,
 Surroundings detail,
 Building specifications,
 Type of construction mechanism,
 Foundation,walls,floors & roofs,
 Material used for construction,
 Foundation &roofing specification,
 Structural design like one way slab and its
calculations,
 Bar bending schedule of beam,
 Abstract of cost & quantity,
 Drawing.

METHOD OF DESIGN:-
There are three method of design;
1. Limit state method of design,
2. Working stress method of design,
3. Ultimate load method of design.
 The detail of all structural member are carried out by
LSM.
 Limit state of design is a method of designing
structers based on statistical concept of safety &
associated statistical probability of failure.

 Room
 Common room
 Bathroom & toilet
 First aid room

Design process:-
 Funding
 Talk to city planner
 Rough sketch some ideas
 Integrated design process
 Find builder & subs
 Architect draws up schematics for consideration
 3D model(use sketchup)
 Develop drawing
 Permit process- Processing take 10 days for new
construction, then another 10 days for corrections.
 Permits.

 Utilities(sewer, water,electrical)
 Framing(windows,stairs)
 Roofing
 Rough plumbing
 Lighting & electrical
 Air sealing
 Drywall
 Flooring
 Tiling
 Painting
 Finish plumbing
 Finish electrical & lighting
 Certificate of occupancy
 Modifications
 Moving in.
Deviding prject management efforts into these five
phases can help give efforts structure and simplify them
into a series of logical and manageable steps;

 Project monitoring and control
 Project closure.
