Laila
It’s almost time, Ami, I hear the other kids on the roofs! [Children laughing SFX]

Laila
I’m going to get my kite. I have been waiting for this day for so long.

Ami
Ok, grab a plate of cookies and go to the roof with your baba. [Running up stairs SFX]

Baba
Laila, I think you have a good chance at winning this year. We put so much work into your red
kite. [Paper rustling SFX]

Laila
What a perfect day for kite flying! [Wind blowing, birds chirping SFX] I’m feeling less scared
now.

Narrator
Like Laila, the roofs were full of children, holding their kites as if they were diamonds. The
festival had begun. [Cheering]

Baba
Remember what we practised Laila! Keep your grip.

Hassan
Yeah Laila, do you remember last year! [Laughing] You were out after five minutes.
Narrator
Hassan and his friends tried to cut Laila’s kite.

Laila
I’m not going to lose this year, I’m stronger!

Narrator
With one swift move, [swish SFX] Laila’s red kite cut Hassan’s kite.

Laila, Baba, and Ami [cheering SFX]

Baba
Come Laila, let’s get your prize! [Running SFX]

Narrator
Laila proudly sits on her Baba’s shoulder carrying the fallen kite, smiling ear to ear.
