Water resources engineers design solutions to manage water resources and ensure their protection. They study all aspects of the water cycle to meet global clean water demands in sustainable and economically viable ways. Their expertise is needed to identify watershed management options, design flood controls, and protect water supplies as populations grow. The University of Guelph's water resources engineering program provides students with strong fundamental engineering skills along with physical and life science knowledge through core courses in hydrology, geomorphology, water quality analysis, and more. Students complete four work terms, gaining experience in areas like storm drainage, water quality research, and watershed modeling.

Water Resources Engineering

Creativity Through New Ideas

Water Resources Engineers design solutions for problems associated with the management of our water
and land resources to ensure multi-faceted protection of this invaluable resource. By studying every aspect
of the hydrological cycle, our graduates strive to meet the global demand for clean, plentiful
water, with solutions that are both environmentally sustainable and economically viable. Continued
population growth requires the expertise of University of Guelph Water Resource Engineers to identify
and evaluate watershed management options, design flood and erosion control systems and to protect
and control our rivers, lakes and groundwater supplies.
