Earth's Layers: Characteristics Lesson

This document outlines a lesson plan for teaching students about the layers of the Earth. It includes learning outcomes, subject matter, procedures, and an evaluation. The procedures involve reviewing what was previously discussed, showing a video on the layers, discussing each layer (crust, mantle, inner core, outer core) and their characteristics, having students draw and label the layers, and presenting their drawings. The evaluation contains 10 true/false questions to assess student understanding of the layers and their properties. The homework assigns advance reading about earthquakes.

Good morning class! Good morning Ma’am!

What did we discuss yesterday? We discussed about Earth.

Very Good! Then, who can tell me what is Ma’am, Earth is the third planet from the sun
Earth? and it is where we inhabit.

That’s Great! Well, it really means that you

learned a lot from our past lesson.

2. Motivation
Now, I’m going to show a video and from that Yes, Ma’am.
video clip you will take notes from it and later
I will ask you questions. Did you understand?

The teacher will write the words crust, mantle,

inner core and outer core on the board.

3. Presentation
Did you learn something from the video? Yes, Ma’am.

So, who can share to us what you have learned Ma’am the video is all about the layers of the
from the video? Eath.

Amazing!

How about you Bernadette, what did you learn Ma’am the different layers of the Earth are
from the video? crust, mantle, inner core and the outer core.

Wonderful! It seems that you all listen and

watch carefully to the video.

So, for today like what your classmates told us

our topic for today is all about the layers of the
Earth and their characteristics.
So as you can see I have written here the crust,
mantle, inner core and outer core.

Based from the video that you have watched, Ma’am, crust is the place where people and
what can you about crust? other living thing live.

Amazing!
It is true that in the crust it is where we inhabit,
it is also the outermost layer of the Earth.
Yes, Ma’am.

4. Generalization
Is everything clear to you about our lesson? Yes, Ma’am.

Again, what are the different layers of the Ma’am, the different layers of the Earth are
Earth? crust, mantle the inner and outer core.

Very Good! Now who can tell me what is a Crust is the outermost layer of the Earth.
crust?

Yes, Very Good!

What about the mantle and the core? Ma’am, the mantle is below the crust and it has
a hot temperature while the core divides in two
parts, the inner core which is a solid state and
the outer core, a liquid state.

Good job!
It seems that you understand our lesson well.

will tell the directions of our activity.

Bring out your materials. In that white Yes, Ma’am.

cartolina, each of the group will draw the
layers of the Earth correctly and with after
drawing it you will colored the crust in brown,
the mantle is red, outer core is orange and the
inner core is yellow. Then after you draw it
you will discuss you works in the class. Is it
clear?

IV. Evaluation

Directions: Write True if the sentence is correct. Write False if the sentence is incorrect.

1. The earth’s outermost layer is the core.

2. A solid ball of metal makes up the inner core.
3. The mantle is made up of molten rock.
4. The eath’s crust is about 40 km thick.
5. The Earth has three layers.
6. The outer core is made up of molten nickel and iron.
7. Movement in the core causes earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
8. Rocks, mountains, and valleys are part of our atmosphere.
9. We live on the crust of the Earth.
