ABSTRACT
At present, English is known to be the universal language being learned and used
in various communication environment to serve its specific purpose. Hence, the English
language education aims to provide learners with the capabilities to understand the
language and the ability to both write and speak it. So, the inability of learners to speak the
language is an evidence of the aim not fully accomplished. Therefore, this study is
necessary to discover if the individuals being the respondents really have problems dealing
with speaking the English language with the use of quantitative method. Consequently, if
they have, what are these and how do they overcome such. There is a possibility that not
all learners encounter speaking problems but half of the possibility goes to the thought that
some learners struggle in English speaking. This serves as a good reason to research the
matter. The insights of this research might be able to help improve the teaching of the
English skills for more productive English learners, educators, and curriculum.
This study made use of a questionnaire as the main instrument. The
researchers chose 104 BSE students as respondents during the school year 2017-2018. The
result of the test was properly tabulated and analysed using frequency and percentage, T-
test, F-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA).
