How to Find an AKXC Carpool: Complete a Google Form for EITHER the men’s or women’s team (practice
time and locations are NOT the same for both teams). You will be given access to the shared google form to
try and find other people interested in carpooling for your area within AK boundaries!

AKXC Apparel – Details on optional and coach recommended apparel for athlete’s coming soon!
1. Special Order Flyer Option – Limited Time ONLY – Pre-selected apparel can be purchased between <DATE
TBD>. Once the window closes all orders are processed together. They are shipped directly to school and
take several weeks to process.
2. General Online AK Merchandise Store – There are dozens of fully customizable apparel (by color, sport,
wording on front and/or back, etc.) items on the site. These items are processed immediately and shipped

Important AK Cross Country Dates:
June 10th: Summer Practice Begins - Please see handout from coaches
July 7th – 12th: Adidas Camp for Men’s & Women’s Team – Encouraged, but optional

It is held on the campus of the Christ School. Multiple high schools attend as a team and individual
runners.
July 29th – August 2nd: Captain’s Week – Look for details coming from the women’s team captains soon.
August 9, 2019: Knight Run 6:00PM until 1:00AM - Fundraiser and team building event centered around at
least one team member running on the track continuously from 7PM until 1AM.
Monday, August 12th @6PM: AK’s Mandatory Parent Athlete Fall Sports Meeting with Coach Knab
(mandatory for ALL fall athletes and a parent)
August 22nd: Men’s & Women’s Kick Off Team Dinner at Olive Garden
August 24th: First meet – Please see handout from coaches for complete schedule
November 9, 2019: NCHSAA State Championship Meet
November 14, 2019 at 6PM: – Women’s Team Banquet at Ballantyne Country Club
November 17, 2019 at 6PM: – Men’s Team Banquet at Ballantyne Country Club

Other Potential Activities/Dates:

- Picture dates for team photos <TBD> and senior banners (tentative/still considering)
- AKXC Parents Volunteer for Home Football Concessions
- Men’s & Women’s Halloween Party (tentative/still considering)
- Additional Pasta Parties (hosted by AKXC families) and other team building events will take place
throughout the season
- Planning to add Knights Night Out dinners held at local restaurants with a percentage of proceeds
going back to team funds as fundraising activities (need parent volunteer to coordinate)
Ardrey Kell High School Track & Field: Parent Volunteer Opportunities
With a team the size of AK Cross Country, parent volunteers play an important role in the overall athlete experience.

 Knight Run Co Chair/Committee Member – Summer fundraising and team building event centered
around at least one team member continuously running on the track and other activities, food and fun!

 Team Events Committee


 Olive Garden Team Dinner
 Potential Men’s & Women’s Halloween Party
 Pasta Parties hosted at someone house and/or Nothing But Noodles
 Other events TBD

 Picture/Video Co-Chair & Committee Members - For anyone with a passion for picture taking and
videos, we need parents to take pictures and videos throughout the season.
 We will likely share on Google Photos (open to suggestions).
 Need an athlete (or maybe athlete/parent combo) from the men’s team and women’s team to
develop a wrap up video for each banquet.

 End of Season Celebration Committee –We need two co-chairs and/or committee to serve as
liaison with event planning at Ballantyne Country Club, coordinate programs and decorations, collect
money from athletes and partner with coaches for the awards and recognition, if needed.
November 14, 2019 at 6PM: – Women’s Team Banquet
November 17, 2019 at 6PM: – Men’s Team Banquet

 Senior Recognition Co-Chair/Committee Member – Primary responsibility will be research


options for senior banners to be ready by mid-August. This committee will work on other recognition to
continue past AK traditions and develop new traditions especially for senior athletes. Looking for a
combination of junior and senior parents for this committee!

 Fundraising Co-Chair/Committee
 Liaison with AKABC’s BBQ Co-Chairs to lead team communication to increase sales for this October
events that raises money for all of AK Athletics.
 Liaison with local business to schedule and plan AKXC Dining Knight Outs with at local restaurants
(Chipotle, Nothing But Noodles, Burger 21, Shake Shack, etc.).

 Parent Volunteer Coordinator - Partner with team parents to recruit volunteers and assist
with creating Sign Up Genius forms.
 Cold Towel Tradition TBD . . .Supplies need replenishment for the women’s team. Options being
discussed.

 One Time Volunteer (many volunteers needed) - Sign up later to hand out cold towels, provide meet
snacks and drinks, bring items to Pasta Parties, etc. Watch for Sign-Up Genius links throughout the season!

 Co-Lead Team Parent (Men’s Team & Women’s Team) - Assist the lead parents for 2019 with
communication, volunteer coordination, party planning and other activities. The goal is to observe and
help as needed in 2019 and serve as the lead team parents in 2020!
