Guidelines for Layout and Format of the Proposal
1. Page Margins (for all pages). Use A4 size Paper
i. Left Margin = 1.5"
ii. Top Margin = 1"
iii. Right Margin = 1"
iv. Bottom Margin = 1"
2. Page Numbering
i. Preliminary pages should be numbered: ii, iii, iv, and so on. No page
number on title page but it is counted as i.
Font: Times New Roman; Font Size: 12; Bottom Centered.
ii. Page numbers in body should be numbered 1, 2, and 3 and so on.
Font: Times New Roman; Font Size 12; Bottom Centered.
3. Line Spacing
i. Main body line spacing should be as:
Spacing, Before 0 pt, After 10 pt; Line spacing 1.5 Lines.
4. Heading Formatting
i. Heading 1, Font: Times New Roma; Font Size: 14; Font Format: Bold,
Alignment: Centered; Text case: Capitalize Each Word. ( Prepositions
and conjunctions have not first letter capital)
Spacing: Before 12 pt and After 12 pt.
ii. Heading 2, Font: Times New Roman; Font Size: 12; Font Format:
Bold, Alignment: Left; Text case: Capitalize Each Word. (Prepositions
and conjunctions have not first letter capital)
Spacing: Before 12 pt and After 12 pt.
iii. Heading 3, Font: Times New Roman; Font Size: 12; Font Format:
Bold, Alignment: Left; Text case: Capitalize Each Word. (Prepositions
and conjunctions have not first letter capital)
Spacing: Before 12 pt and After 12 pt.
5. Body Formatting
Font: Times New Roman; Font Size: 12; Font Format: Regular; Alignment:
Justified. Spacing: Before 0 pt and After 10 pt.
6. Caption Formatting
i. Font: Times New Roman; Font Size: 10; Font Format: Italic;
Alignment: Centered;
ii. Caption Numbering: Use Figure 1: Figure 2: etc on the order of
appearance to number the figure / picture.
iii. Caption should be below the figure / picture.
7. Table Heading Formatting
i. Font: Times New Roman; Font Size: 10; Font Format: Bold;
Alignment: Centered;
ii. Table Numbering: Use Table 1, Table 2, etc on the order of appearance
to number the table.
iii. Table heading should be above the table.
8. Appendix Formatting
i. Label Appendix as A, B, C, etc and give a Title to each appendix.
ii. Follow Formatting as like Heading 2 for each Appendix Title.
iii. The page number for appendix should be A-1, A-2, B-1, B-2…and so
on.
9. Citation and References
Book
Author(s). Book title. Location: Publishing company, year, pp.
Example:

Book Chapters

For any more reference, follow as Per IEEE/APA Rules (as per department
requirement).
10. Table of Contents Formatting
i. For labeling of Chapters and Sections follow the order of sequence
items.
ii. Give the title "TABLE OF CONTENTS" with font Times new
Roman, font size 14, Bold, Center aligned.
iii. Show up to Three Levels of Headings. The second level should be
indent by 0.3” inside the margin of First level. The third level should
be indent by 0.3” inside the Second level and so on.
iv. Show Page numbers followed by series of dots (…….)
v. First level (Heading 1) must be Bold
