About Company: Trent headed by Mr Noel Tata has given approx 2.5x returns and are likely to witness better `
growth with almost 34 stores opening every year.
Stores : Total stores are 175 currently & company looking to add 120 in FY 19. Westside (131 stores at
present, opening almost one store every week), Zara (49% stake held by Trent in JV, Inditex Trent Retail
for mass premium segment), Star Bazaar & Star Hyper (both incurring losses but company planing to
open 40 more Star Bazar in FY19), Landmark and Zudio (new brand & small format stores, 40 expected in FY19)
E-commerce Platform - Tata CLiQ, grew at 400% in FY 18 and expected to grow at 300-400% in FY 19 as per Mr Tata.
0.12% shrinkage -The Company has only one warehouse for the entire country and all its stores receive daily deliveries.
Market Size - Total Retail Market size is Rs 47 Lakh crore in India and modern retail and e-commerce
together is less than Rs 2 lakh crore, or just around 4%. The market is growing at 7%, or Rs. 3.5 lakh crore a year.
Company's policy for store selection - The Company tries to look for good locations & doesn't hesitate in closing in case
of wrong location
Valuations: The Company like peers D-Mart, V-Mart is trading at high valuations which shows market's acceptance
of high valuations because of trusted management and growth oriented business model.
Value unlocking - Inditex Retail JV and Tata CLiQ have value unlocking potential for the Company
