You may draw the cycle.

2. Name the 4 processes of aerobic cellular respiration. How much ATP’s does each process produce?

4 Processes of Cellular How much ATP produced (lots,
Respiration: none, or a little)
Name: ___________________________________________  Period:  ______

3. Name the two stages of photosynthesis and list what happens and what is produced during each.

Stages What Happens Product(s)

4. What is the general chemical equation of photosynthesis?

5.  Compare & contrast the equations for photosynthesis and aerobic respiration.

up

Photosynthesis & Respiration Part II
1. What is the overall reaction for photosynthesis?

2. How does this compare to the overall reaction for cellular respiration?

3. Where does the energy for photosynthesis come from?

4. What plant pigment absorbs light for photosynthesis?

5. Explain why chlorophyll appears green to us in terms of what happens to different wavelengths of light
that strike a chlorophyll molecule.
Name: ___________________________________________  Period:  ______
6. In what organelle of a plant cell does photosynthesis take place?

7. What are the two stages of photosynthesis?

8. * In which part of the chloroplast does each stage occur?

9. What happens to water molecules in the light reactions?

10. What photosynthesis waste product is formed in the light reactions?

their environment instead of light.  This process is called chemosynthesis.  Are these bacteria
autotrophs or heterotrophs?

Respiration Questions

occur?

3. In which phase of cellular respiration is carbon dioxide made?

4. In which phase of cellular respiration is glucose a substrate?

5.  Yeast are a type of organism that can do both aerobic and anaerobic respiration, depending on whether
or not oxygen is available.  A scientist does an experiment on two identical populations of yeast.  One
population is grown in an open container and receives oxygen from the air, while the other is grown in a
closed container.  After two weeks of growth, he measures how many yeast are in each population.
Which one will have the larger population, and why?
