Speech Choir Competition Guidelines

GUIDELINES

SPEECH CHOIR COMPETITION

CONTEST DATE : NOVEMBER 18, 2016 (FRIDAY)


VENUE : SHS STAGE

ELIGIBILITY:

 Bona fide Grade 10 students of NCNHS.


 Each section is entitled to send one (1) entry group with twenty-five (25) members for the Speech
Choir Competition regardless of the number of students in a class.

COVERAGE

 Each group shall interpret the contest piece entitled “ The Congo” by Vachel Lindsay.
 The group must use the modern speech choir presentation.
 The speech choir must be composed of twenty-five (25) members only.

CONTEST RULES

 Prior to the contest date, the group can conduct rehearsals on the venue.
 The event will start at one o’clock in the afternoon. Contest participants are requested to be in the
venue before the event proper for proper briefing.
 The groups should be ready to perform as they arrive. No area will be assigned for changing,
make-up/retouch and practice.
 The total performance must NOT exceed fifteen (15) minutes. This shall include their entrance to
and exit from the stage. Every 10 second exceed of time is equivalent to one (1) point deduction to
the total score.
 An official timer will be provided for the presentation.
 Strict observance of performance number should be followed.
 Criteria for judging

 The decision of the judges is final.

 The top 3 groups will receive:


 Champion Gold medals
 1st Runner up Silver medals
 2nd Runner up Bronze medals
