follows to issue an air operator certificate include the content of the AOC.
An AOC is a certificate that is required before an operator can use an aircraft for
commercial transportation. The rule states that,
An operator shall not operate an airplane for the purpose of commercial air
transportation otherwise than under, and in accordance with, the terms and
conditions of an AOC.
Before issuance of an AOC the operator must not hold an AOC issued by another
authority unless specifically approved by the authorities concerned, have
registered the airplanes which are to be operated under the AOC in the state
responsible for issuing the AOC. Satisfy the authority that he is able to conduct
safe operations.
Operator must carry out set up and maintain an organization, establish a quality
system, comply with required training programs and maintenance requirements,
consistent with the nature and extent of the operations specified and to comply
with operations regulations.
After meeting all requirements prescribed in procedures set by competent
authority the operator will be awarded with an AOC the content of which shall
include, name and location of the operator, date of issue and period of validity,
description of the type of operations authorized, types of airplanes authorized for
use.
Registration markings of the authorized airplanes except that operators may
obtain approval for a system to inform the authority about the registration
markings for airplanes operated under its AOC, authorized areas of operation,
special limitations, and special authorizations/approvals like, CAT 2/CAT 3, MNPS
(Minimum Navigational Performance Specifications ), ETOPS (Extended Range
Twin Engine Operations), RNAV (Area Navigation), RVSM (Reduced Vertical
Separation Minima) and transportation of dangerous goods.
An AOC is the basic and very important document to be carried on board and
operator must assure its availability and validity all the times.
