Understanding Stone Creek’s Interior
Not everything is what it seems on the exterior.
The beginning of 2018 in Richmond, VA is where it all started. A company arose from
just a small idea while hanging out with some friends. Hunter Eutsler set a goal to change the
perception that homeowners had about contractors. “It is very important to me as a COO to try to
change how people and homeowners look at contractors. I want people to see that they are real
humans, trying to help out the community while helping their own families” Eutsler stated.
Before attempting to change the understanding of contractor, Eutsler had to start the business.
Prior to Stone Creek, he was a sales representative for products that contactors need like siding,
windows, and roofing. During his time as a sales representative, the contractors he had dealt with
were not professional. Eutsler said “They would not pay us, they would not use the proper
equipment, and they would dress unprofessionally.” With only little knowledge of being a
contactor Eutsler had, he was ready to make a change to the way they are portrayed and
sometimes the way they act.

Eutsler felt confident in his decision for starting his business as COO. He knew he would
need help, so he decided to ask a few of his close friends to get their knowledge and perspectives
on how to start and run this type of business. Eutsler had previous knowledge on contracting
because of his past roles in the construction business. “Because my dad is so helpful and
knowledgeable on being a contractor, that already had me one step ahead. Plus, I already had the
knowledge of both the installation side and the sales side from prior jobs” stated Eutsler. Another
factor in the success that has helped Eutsler’s company kick off is the way he dressed since
everyone has a stigma on contractor’s appearance, hygiene, and how approachable they are.
Eutsler said “I knew that I had a very good chance at making it successful just by the way I
dressed and approached customers.”
Eutsler started out weary with the beginning of the company, but never let it show. When asked
if there was fear during this time, Eutsler stated “Oh yeah, I was so scared, but you would have
never known. I don’t show much emotion which sometimes that can hurt me or sometimes it can
help me, in this case it helped me.” Eutsler showed a confidence not only in his small group of
co-workers but with himself as well and that is the secret to most of his success.
Not only was Eutsler starting a brand-new company from scratch, he had to keep up with his
other job as a sales representative selling products that Stone Creek Exteriors needed. Not only
was he working as a full-time employee at a distribution company, but he is also a COO of his
company with only three other workers that had full time jobs as well. “At first I struggled
balancing both jobs because my sales job in distribution required me to be there full-time.”
Because of having to be at the sales job full time and he was not able to leave during the day, it
was hard for him to make time to check up on the current projects he had started.

After a few months of having Stone Creek Exteriors and working full time at the supplies
distribution center, Eutsler realized that he had to make a change. He was not able to be as
thorough with the jobs as he had promised and his heart was not completely in the new company.
Eutsler had to make a huge decision to put the company on the backburner for a while or to fight
through it to keep the company alive. After he thought about it for a few months, he decided that
he would find a distribution sales job that he could do from home. Once he achieved that goal, he
is now able to fully commit to the lifetime experience of running his own company. Eutsler said
“Now it is easier because my full-time job is that I work from home I can take phone calls, get
opportunities, and even go and check up on previous jobs and buildings I have worked on.”

Throughout the past two years, Eutsler has learned many life lessons while maintaining two
separate jobs. It all started out by him wanting to change the appearance and stigma on
contractors, and he knew he could do it by starting his own company. He went through obstacles
and loops throughout and maintained his composure so he stated, “You will never achieve your
dreams if you don’t go through hardships.”
