HISTORY AND GROWTH OF K.P .NAMBOODIRI’S AYURVEDICS

Ayurveda and Ayurvydyam are considered as the sole clear objective of the emerge of ancient Hindu

civilization. No other branches of medical science have such an ancient and nobleness as ayurveda. There are

clear evidence to prove that ancient Greek and Arabs had written their medical books on the basis of

ayurveda .The Greek was known as ‘Yavanas’ among ancient Hindus. And Greek language was known as

‘yavanai’. Thus the books written on medicine also named after this word. Thus the short form of yavanai is

now known as ‘yunani’ which is the name for Arabic medical science. Thus when some are perceive this form

the angle of the history .It is seen that both week and Arabs practiced ayurveda as the basis for their medical

science. Thus ayurveda as the basis for their medical science. Thus ayurveda had reached such a peak level

during the reigion of Hindu kings.

The Mohammadians (Muslims) who ruled India after invasion did not neglects ayurveda but brought in

yunani treatment during their periods through they were foreigners, they also considered ayurveda as a

unique branch of medical science. They translated ‘Charka’ the famous book about an ayurveda medicine

into Arabic. By this, they really encouraged ayurveda to develop further.

After the retreat of Muslims, the British dominated India and ayurveda was thrown in to darkness. They

not only treated. Ayurveda respectfully but also established the much-complicated allopathy in India.

3
ayurveda was out of royal consideration and know official assistance was given to it .Ayurveda remained in

darkness almost 150years. Still ayurveda survived without much deterioration. This unique feamre of

ayurveda attracted the attention of British rules.

They decided to promote ayurveda is a branch of medical science and government was granted. A

number of medical institutions had been established to popularize the value of ayurveda as a branch of

medical science. Gradually government granted medical graduations to those whose studies and complets

the medical education in these institutions. Now ayurveda has come to light and there is an ever increasing

awareness among the people about the qualities of eastern branches of ayurveda also a lot of books are
