Employability Activity 1
Business and Technology
Employability Activity: Employability Skills Self-Assessment. Students are
given a list of employability skills, asked to define each skill, self-rank each
skill, and explain their self-rankings. The self-assessments will be revisited at
the end of the semester to determine improvements in employability skills.
Standard(s):

1. Attendance and punctuality are the ability to be on time and present. I would rate
my punctuality and attendance a 2 because I tend to be late occasionally.
2. Being energetic means to be upbeat and spread positivity in an appropriate way. I
would rate myself a 3 in the energetic field because I try to keep everyone around
me positive even when things are looking down.
3. Appropriate business attire would be not wearing anything inappropriate and
keeping a neutral look. I would rate myself a 2 in this field because all of my
current attire does not fit business appropriate requirements.
4. Initiative is the ability to take charge at a task and to be motivated to do
something. I would rate my initiative a 3 because once I find that motivation, I
like to tackle tasks head on.
5. Maturity is being able to maintain a serious and professional attitude towards all
things in the business setting. I would rate my maturity a 3 because I know the
right times to act serious and handle matters at hand.
6. Courtesy is being a polite person in dealing with all kinds of people and
respecting others. I would rate my courtesy a 3 because I am kind and
openminded to all new people.
7. Attitude is an important characteristic to keep positive and use as an advantage to
make the workplace run as efficiently as possible. I would rate my attitude a 2
because, although I aim to stay positive all the time, sometimes my attitude can
make me come off as aggressive.
8. Quality of work is how well something is completed. I would rate my quality of
work a 3 because I don’t rush through work. I take the time to evaluate and
complete my work efficiently and accurately.
9. Quantity of work is how much work you complete. It is the extensiveness of the
work. I would rate my quantity of work a 3 because, while still doing my work
accurately, I tend to go over and beyond with my loads of work.
10. Flexibility is the ability to adapt well and make changes accordingly. I would rate
my flexibility a 1 because I do not handle change well in any aspect. I tend to
anticipate change.
11. Cooperation is the willingness to work with others and do what is being asked. I
would rate my cooperation a 3 because I will do anything asked of me within
appropriation.
12. Dependability is being able to be relied on and trusted with important things. I
would rate my dependability a 3 because I can be relied on to fulfill requests.
13. Trustworthiness is the simple act of being trusted with information, big projects,
etc. I would rate my trustworthiness a 3 because I can be trusted with these types
of business-related things.
14. Self-disciplinary is the ability to hold yourself accountable and ensure your doing
what your supposed to. I would rate myself a 3 in this area because I keep myself
in check without the overview of anyone else.
15. Working with minimum supervision goes back to self-disciplinary, it means to be
able to keep up with everything you must do and hold yourself responsible
without having eyes on you.
16. Working accurately and neatly means to keep your work organized, legible, and
able to be easily accessed. I would rate my ability to work accurately and neatly a
3 because I keep all my work together and able to be found simply.
17. To be tolerant is to be open-minded and willing to listen to different ideas and
ways of doing things. I would rate my tolerance a 3 because I am very willing to
welcome new ideas in.
18. To be organized means to keep work and events arranged and be in the know of
all things. I would rate myself a 3 in organization because I am a very organized
student who keeps up with everything.
19. Being decisive means to be able to make quick and smart decisions. I would rate
myself a 2 in being decisive because I often struggle to make decisions.
20. Being a problem-solver means being able to find a logical solution to business
issues. I would rate myself a 3 in being a problem solver because I do well with
finding creative solution.
21. Accepting suggestions for improvement is being able to take constructive
criticism. I would rate myself a 3 in this area because I am up for any critique.

Employability Activity: ABC’s of Work Ethics Power Point Presentation

Business and Technology
Employability Activity: Microsoft Office G’Metrix Practice for Word 2016 and
Excel 2016: All students are required to complete at least 2 practice exams in
Excel and 1 in Word over the course of the semester. Many advanced students
can complete additional practice exams, which leads to higher chances of
passing the certification exams. G’Metrix equips students with valuable
computer skills needed to be employable and successful in any 21st century
occupation.

Business and Technology
Employability Activity: Team Building Workshop Project: The ability to work
with a team in the 21st century workplace is imperative and an employability
skill that many modern day employees lack. Students were asked to develop a
“workshop” that included various icebreaker and teambuilding exercises.

workplace including accountability, punctuality, time

Business and Technology
Employability Activity: Netiquette Guideline-Students will create an
employee netiquette guideline for a fictional company. Understanding and
practicing netiquette is essential to be employable in the 21st century
workplace, as business communications are becoming increasingly internet
based.
