The Problem
Introduction:
The Philippine flag is the National emblem of the Filipinos. It symbolizes the
Philippine freedom,history and sovereignty.
According to the curator of the Aguinaldo shrine, its important to revisit the
history of the flag and be reminded of how heroes fought for our independence. It
should be given importance for it reflects the love for country, and it is one of the
ways to value the sacrifices of the people who died protecting and defending our
motherland.
According to Republic Act No. 8491, otherwise known as the “An Act
prescribing the code of the national flag, anthem, motto, coat of arms and other
heraldic items and devices of the Philippines, All government offices and
educational institution shall henceforth observed the flag racing ceremony every
Monday morning and the flag lowering ceremony every Friday afternoon. The
ceremony shall be simple and dignified and shall include the playing or singing of
the Philippine national anthem.
This problem had accumulated from tolerable to habitual state and it has a
significant impact to the student’s performance at school. Most of the class had
been influenced by their companions and this would be embedded in their minds
pattern until college and ultimately to their vacation and adventures in life. Other
students had just the difficulty in optimizing their time as their subject related
activities grows in bulk.
To figure it out, the researcher’s intentions is to isolate the primary reason of
tardiness of some students who are not active in attending the flag ceremony at
school and proactive intervention will be executed so as to curtail if it will not
completely do away with the problem.
As the school invest discipline to have a world class graduates globally
competitive and well rounded individuals, the researcher’s had in mind to discover
the reasons behind this punctuality virtue which is losing in ground.
We chose to study this issue because we want to know why Students don’t
attend the flag raising [Link] want to let the students learn and realize that
our Flag Raising Ceremony has a vital role on us,as citizens here in our country.

• The conceptual framework of the study shows the stereotype gathering data for
the research. This is the notion of the study. The independent variable is Factors
Affecting Student's Failure to Join Flag Raising Ceremony,while the dependent
variable are Doing House Chores,Exposure to Sunlight ,Homes are far from the
School and Students finding it not important.
Statement of the Problem
This study aims to determine the perceptions of students on attending Flag
Raising [Link] participants of the study will be Grade 11 EIM and SMAW
students of Toribio Minor National High School in Margosatubig District,Division of
Zamboanga Del Sur,for the School Year 2019-2020.
This study seeks to answer the following questions:
1. Why do students don’t attend Flag Raising Ceremonies?
[Link] students don’t give value on attending Flag Ceremonies?
3. What are the Student’s perception of attending Flag Ceremonies?
[Link] would we improve the attendance of students on Flag Ceremonies?
[Link] on the results of the study,what implications can be drawn?
Significance of the Study
This study is of importance for the following groups of individual:
Students. The results of the study could provide the reason of lack of
attendance in Flag Raising Ceremonies.
Teachers. The results of the study can benefit the teachers by letting the
teachers know whether their students is participating at Flag Ceremonies or not.
School. The results of the study can help the school to enhance the
student’s value of patriotism.
Other [Link] study can be a source of information to the other
researcher that is engaging similar case to this study.
Scope and Limitations of the study
The scope and limitation of this study involves the following parameters that
are deem necessary in projecting the significance of the study and find its rightful
place in the huge area of educational research.
Subject Matter. This study is design to find factors why students can’t attend
Flag Raising Ceremonies.
Research Environment and Timeline. The study will be conducted at Toribio
Minor National High School,Margosatubig,District,Margosatubig,Zamboanga del
Sur during the school year 2019-2020.
Research Participants. The research participants of this study are the EIM-
11 and SMAW-11 students of Toribio Minor National High School,School Year
[Link] participants are identified as student’s who rarely participate
during Flag Raising Ceremonies.
Research Design. The study uses the descriptive type of method
since the study describes a phenomenon as it naturally [Link] is also used the
qualitative. type of research.
Research Instruments. A self made,semi-structured questionaires was
utilized in order to generate rich responses from the research participants.
Definition of Terms
The following terms are used extensively in this study and shall be taken
according to the definition given below.
Factors-this term is a circumstance, fact, or influence that contributes to a
result or outcome.
Failure-this term pertains lack of success to join or do something.
Flag Ceremony- This term pertains the way of showing love and respect
for one's country. Flag ceremonies may be used for opening or closing meetings
or special events, honoring a special occasion or person, or retiring a worn flag.
Structure of the Thesis
The study consist of five chapters; Chapter 1 The Problem, Chapter 2
Review of Related Literature, Chapter 3 Research Methodology.
Chapter 1 includes the introduction, , conceptual framework, and
statement of the problem, scope and limitation of the study, significance of the
study, definition of terms and structure.
Chapter 2 discusses the review of the related literature.
Chapter 3 covers the research methodology which includes the
research design, research environment, research subject, sampling techniques,
instrumentations, data gathering techniques, and statistical treatment.
