Lesson Plan in English 9
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. discuss making prediction through group activity;
b. perform role playing based on their prediction of the possible ending of the
story; and
c. integrate the importance of making predictions by answering the given
worksheet.
II. SUBJECT MATTER/CONTENT

Topic: making prediction- is a strategy in which readers use information from a text
(including titles, headings, pictures and diagrams) and their own personal
experiences to anticipate what they are about to read.

B. Motivation (World of Imagination)
The teacher will let the students close their eyes and let them imagine the
situation being told by the teacher. Then, the teacher will let the students open their
eyes and will ask some motive questions.
Scenario: Imagine that you are inside the house standing beside the window. Then,
you see a dark clouds block out the sun, a strong breeze blowing through the trees
and you heard a thunder off in a distance.
Motive Questions:
Based on the given situation that you tried to imagine, what do you think is about
to happen?

What are the clues that helps you figure out that it is about to rain?
Do you think without those given clues, will you be able to predict that it is about
to rain?
Based on the activity that you had, what do you think is our lesson for today?
C. Lesson Proper/Class Discission
The teacher will introduce the topic to be discuss. But before having a further
discussion about the topic, the teacher will let the students read the objectives.
a. Activity (Predict the End)
The teacher will let the students to have a group activity
Mechanics:
The teacher will divide the students into four (4) groups.
The short story will be posted by the teacher on the board for them to easily
read it.
Each group will be given a graphic organizer for them to fill in and to predict
what will happen next.
At the end, one representative from the group will explain their work.
b. Analysis
The teacher will ask the following questions based on the student’s activity.
1. How was your activity?
2. How did you come up with your answers?
3. What are your basis in making prediction?
4. What are the two things you need to consider in order to make prediction?
5. Is it possible to make prediction without factual evidences? Why?
6. Did your prior knowledge helps you figure out something that is not explicitly stated? How?
7. What do you think is the importance of making prediction in our daily lives?
c. Application (Act Me Out)
The teacher will let the students to have a group activity entitled "Act Me Out".
Mechanics:
The teacher will divide the students into four (4) groups.
Each group will be given a short reading passage that they need to read.
The students need to make prediction out of the given passage.
Then, each group will perform a role play based on the prediction they made from the
given passage.
Each group will be given 10 minutes to prepare and 1 minute to perform.
Students performance will be rated based on the scoring rubric provided below.
