Church History Syllabus

Course Objective: By the end of this course the student will be able to understand and articulate the
major events , movements and theological debates in Church History with special reference to three
major epochs: a) the Early Church (prior to Nicaea b) the Protestant Reformation and c) the rise of the
modern missionary movements and of global Christianity. The student will also gain knowledge of the
origins of the major denominations including the Calvary Chapel movement.

Assessment: There will be two assignments , both will be due in the final week of class.

Assignment 1: A paper on a topic of your choosing relevant to some aspect of the Protestant
Reformation (1000 words) 45%.

Assignment 2: A paper on a topic of your choosing on any aspect of Church History that was
covered in this course (1000 words) 45%. Attendance & Cooperation: 10%
