Althea Umali has the details.
The Department of Education (DepEd) said it is eyeing the resumption of
classes in certain areas affected by the Taal Volcano eruption on Feb. 3. In a press
briefing, Education Secretary Leonor Briones said that they are now coordinating with
concerned Local Government Units (LGU) that were affected by the eruption for said
initiative. She said the reopening will be on a case to case basis depending on the
decision of the LGUs.

A1: Some residents in Batangas returned their homes as Taal Volcano eases.
Here is Pjaul Balisi give us the updates.

Some evacuees were finally able to return to their homes in Sunday,

January 26 as state volcanologists lowered Taal Volcano’s status to Alert Level 3.
Though the threat of a hazardous eruption is not yet being ruled out, the downgrading
was a chance for families to check on what they left behind. The Batangas provincial
government said residents may choose to come home if their area is no longer on
lockdown, but evacuation centers are still open for those whose houses were damaged.

This is Pjaul Balisi for DZLC 98.6.

A2: We will be right back after this reminders.

Authority 2: Today we will teach you what you should do after a volcanic eruption. First,
you need to listen to your local radio stations for civil defense advice and follow. Stay
indoors and away from volcanic ashfall areas as much as possible. When it is safe to go
outside, keep your gutters and roof clear of ash as heavy ash deposits can collapse
your roofs.

Cyrus: But when someone is injured, what we are going to do?

Authority 1: Check them if they have a serious injury and look for help.

Authorities 1&2: Okay kids, you should do what we said a while ago.

Cyrus & Jhazel: Okay sir, thank you for explaining what we should do after a volcanic
eruption.

Voice: Be prepared, be ready and be aware for the aftershocks that may happen. This
reminder is brought to you by PHIVOLCS and this station.

A2: Taal Volcano status lowered to Alert Level 2.
Jamaica, please give us an update.
Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said it was
lowered from Alert Level 3 after three weeks. State volcanologists cautioned the public
that lowering of the alert level does not mean that Taal’s unrest has completely stopped
or that the threat of an eruption has disappeared. It warned sudden steam-driven
explosions, volcanic earthquakes, ash fall can occur and threaten areas within the Taal
Volcano Island.
