ADJUSTMENT

1. Pressure - up adjustment. 2. Main relief adjustment.

H. To set the relief pressures, loosen the upper jam nut and turn the pressure-
up body (reference 1) clockwise until it is fully seated. Loosen the lower jam nut
and adjust the main relief body (reference 2) clockwise to increase pressure:
counter clockwise to reduce pressure. Adjust the pressure setting until the
pressure-up value is obtained. Secure the main relief jam nut. Then turn the
pressure-up body counter clockwise until main relief values are obtained.
Secure the jam nut following the adjustment.

Recheck both pressures and make final adjustments between the two
adjustments until the relief settings are correct.

Usually some “fine tuning” is required to reach the proper values.

4. ADJUSTMENT

A. Make sure the engine is off.

B. Loosen the lock nut.

C. Turn the speed sensor out completely.

D. Check the resistance through the sensor using an ohm meter. Resistance
values should fall within an approximate range of 1750 to 2050 ohms.
(Resistance values will vary with temperature; lower values at 78 degrees F,
higher values at 180 degrees F.) If the observed values are much different than
those stated, the sensor is defective and should be replaced. If values are
within the range stated, continue to the next step.

E. Next check the circuit of the sensor for a short circuit. Test the resistance
between one lead of the sensor and the sensor body. Resistance should be
infinite. (No continuity.) Replace the sensor if continuity exists.

F. Install the speed sensor completely into the hole until it gently makes contact
with the tooth of the ring gear.

G. Turn the speed sensor out turn from the contact position. Tighten the
locknut.

H. Repeat step 2 above. Connect the sensor to the machine harness.

After following this procedure any problems related to speed sensing may exclude
the sensor and it s adjustment. Further diagnosis of the rest of the system must be
made.
