1. What are the challenges on the target of having the students in Malaysia to be
fluent in both Bahasa Melayu and English?
2. Discuss how teachers could integrate technology in the classroom.
Answer:
1. One of the challenges in having students in Malaysia to be fluent in both BM and
English including lack of motivation and lack of interest to learn English. Some of
them might feel so comfortable with their mother tongue and have the mind-set
that they don’t need to learn English language. The other challenge is the
students especially in rural area did not practise the use of English at their home.
The last one is the linguistic factors. This include difficulties in transferring from
the mother tongue to the sounds, rhythms, and stress patterns of English, and
lack of understanding of common grammatical patterns in English which are very
vary with the mother tongue.
2. There are many ways on how teacher can integrate technology in the classroom.
One of the way is by replace the use of mah-jong paper into power-point
presentation. Not only can saving the time, it also environmental friendly because
we can use it over again and we don’t use paper. The other way is by giving
quizzes through application such as Quizziz and Kahoot. It can attract the
students’ and also easy to be made.
