DETAILED LESSON PLAN
In
MATH 7
1.OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
define perimeter, polygon, irregular polygons and regular polygons.
distinguish the difference of regular polygon and irregular polygon.
solve perimeter accurately.
11.SUBJECT MATTER:

A. Preparation
Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity
1. Prayer
“Please stand, let’s pray.”
(All students will stand)
2. Greetings
“Good Morning Class.”
“Good Morning ma’am!”
3. Attendance

B. Motivation
Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity
Activity:
Direction: Use a tape measure to find the length and
width of the rectangular objects in the table below. Yes ma’am
Write the measurements in the nearest centimetre.
Then calculate the distance around the object.

C. Presentation
Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity
The distance around the object is called its PERIMETER.
And that is our new topic for today.
D. Discussion
Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity
Perimeter (P)
- The sum of the lengths of the sides of a
polygon.
Polygon
- Is a closed figure whose sides are segments
having 3 or more sides.
Example of a polygons:
- Triangle, square, rectangle, pentagon
Regular Polygon
- Polygons having all angles are congruent and
all sides are congruent.
Irregular polygon
- Polygons having all side are not congruent.
Example:
Perimeter of Irregular Polygon
Find the perimeter of each polygon.
A.
7cm
5cm
9cm
P= 5cm + 9cm+ 7cm
P= 21 cm
8cm
B.
10cm 14cm
8cm
P= 8cm+ 10cm+8cm+14cm
P=40 cm
Perimeter of Regular Polygon
C. Regular octagon: side= 9cm
Solution: an octagon is a polygon with 8 sides, since
the octagon is regular,P=8s
P=8s write the formula for the perimeter of an
octgon.
P= 8(9cm)
P= 72 cm
Perimeter of Rectangle
The perimeter of a rectangle with length(l) and
width(w) is given by:
P=2l + 2w or P=2(l+w)
D. 10cm
5cm
P= 2l + 2w write the formula for the perimeter of a
rectangle
P= 2(10) + 2(5) replace (l) with 10 and (w) with 5.
P= 30
YES MA’AM
UNDERSTOOD!
D. Application:
Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity
Board work:
Find the perimeter of each polygon.
1. P= 8ft. + 10ft. + 12ft.
8ft. 12ft. P= 30ft.
triangle
10ft.
2.
4.2m square P=4s
P=4(4.2)
P=16.8
7in.
3.
18in. 15in.
13in.
P=7in. + 18in. +20in. +15in. +13in. +3in
P= 76 in.
3in.
20in.
E. Generalization
Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity
Class, in solving Perimeter of a polygon, just
simply add the measurement of the sides of the
polygon.
Understood! Yes ma’am
