3 Ton Load Calculation of Cargo Lift

The document calculates load capacities for a cargo lift with a 10 foot tall column, 8 foot long beam, and 3000 kg weight capacity. It determines: 1) Each of the 4 columns must support 1250 kg or 1.25 tons of load. Calculations show the column cross-section has a capacity of 11.832 tons, well above the required load. 2) The bending moment on the beam from the 1.25 ton loads is calculated to be 36 ton-inches, and the beam cross-section has a capacity of 4.36 tons, ensuring it is also safe against the required load. 3) In summary, both the columns and beam were calculated to have sufficient load capacities

3 Ton Load Calculation of Cargo Lift

Data :-

Height of Column = 10 feet

Length of Beam = 8 ft

Weight Capacity = 3000 Kg

Weight of Cage = 1000 Kg

25% Impact Effect= 1000 Kg

Design Load= 5000 Kg

a) Load Calculation For Column:-

Design on 4 Cloumns = 5000/4= 1250 Kg=1.25 Ton

Load Testing for 4”x2”by 7.06 lbs/ft Channel

X-X :-

Radius of Gyration(X-X)= 1.56

(Radius of Gyratio(Y-Y)= 0.5

L/r(X-X)= 10x12/1.56=120/1.56= 76.9 m^3= 4.93 Ton/Sq Inch ( From Table of Safe Working
Stresses )

Area of 4”x2” is 2.34 Square Inch

Hence Capacity(X-X) = 4.93x2.34=11.832 Ton Per Column

Y-Y:-

Radius of Gyration (Y-Y)= 0.5

L/r(Y-Y)= 10x12/0.5=120/0.5= 240 m^3= 0.86 Ton/Sq Inch ( From Table of Safe Working
Stresses )

Area of 4”x2” is 2.34 Square Inch

Hence Capacity(Y-Y) = 0.86x2.34=2 Ton Per Column

Hence Safe against required load of 1.25 Ton Per Column

b) Load Calculation For Beam:- (Beam 5x2 ½ x 10.98 Lbs/ft, Z=4.36)

Calculation Moment
1.25 1.25
M= 1.25 Ton x 4 ft – (1 .25Ton x1.5ft)

M=3.125 Ton.ft 8 feet

M=3.125 Ton x12 3

feet
M=36 Ton.Inch

Z=M/f= 37.5 Ton.Inch/12

1.25 1.25
Z= 3..125

Z=3.125<4.36 Hence Safe

Z<3.96 Hence Safe
