Happy New Year! Let’s make workplace safety our 2019 resolution
This year, let’s make workplace safety our outmost priority.
Not only will we ensure our own safety, but we will be paying it
forward by making our workplace safer for others as well.
Year in review:
As we look back at 2018, the O&G sector across EMEA delivered
almost 46 million hours of work. We had a challenging start to the
year, with 7 recordable injuries in Q1, including 2 lost time injuries.
Performance improved in Q2 & Q3, but 8 recordable injuries in the
last 3 months meant that throughout the year, 19 people on our
projects had been injured to the extent that they required treatment
by a medical professional. Despite a difficult Q4, we ended the year
having achieved 275 Perfect Days and with a Total Recordable
Injury Frequency rate (TRIF) of 0.083, exceeding our 2018 Oil &
Gas target of 0.090.
Notable achievements:
• EMEA achieved 38 million hours without an LTI
• Khurais MPP achieved 18.8 million PTD without LTI
• System B achieved 10.2 million PTD without LTI

that this program has now been extended to 9 December 2020,
with a further potential extension to 9 December 2024.
The oil and gas fields in the project cover a vast geographical area,
spanning over 500km with up to 40 locations working concurrently
with up to 2,800 personnel. The portfolio of the project include:
gas, oil and water well tie ins, flow lines and trunk lines to GOSP’s, Solar Power Plant
overhead power lines, cathodic protection, SCADA connectivity,
CCTV, electrical and instrumentation, structural steel and all
associated concrete and earthworks.
By mid-2018 the project has completed: 289 wells, inclusive

Thanks to Fatimah’s determination and hard work, she was

BICSI Headquarters in Florida, USA. These courses were related
to studying and reviewing the BICSI OSP DRM (OSP110 Cable
Plant Design, OSP200 OSP Design Review). Afterwards, Fatimah
applied for the BICSI OSP exam that she successfully passed in
December 2018.
Currently, there are only a total of 14 BICSI OSP certified designers
in the Middle East and Africa.
Among the 14, there are only 2 females, including Fatimah,
who is the first ever Arab woman to obtain this credential.
On behalf of the SLFE Management, we would like to congratulate
